Lapsus

This band turned me onto a new world of music and an alternate narrative about one of the worlds most vilified religious characters. Would love to have seen them continue the saga but what they accomplished still made a huge impact on my experience in this world. One of the few vocalist in this vein of music that I actually enjoy.

I bought the cd and it has been on nonstop rotation in my car for several weeks. I stumbled upon this band quite by accident while looking for an online cd ordering option for a similar group, Momentum. I call this album Brutally Elegant. Genuinely beautiful and melodic passages interspersed with savage and bleak refrains. Criminally addictive, the band floats then bludgeons, then floats. Not a loud/soft/loud post-rock Mogwai transition, but one of the black metal arts colliding with a chrysalis. And the songwriting never waivers from superb. How they have not reached Significant Status is one of the great mysteries. Buy it. Now.
