SCHLAGE BE365 CAM 622 Keypad Electronic Deadbolt, Matte Black

This was really easy to install. I was replacing a regular lock with a deadbolt, so I had to make the hole in the door bigger and the hole in the doorframe deeper, which took me a while, but that was on me. The actual installation of the lock once I finished the prep work was really quick, probably less than 10 minutes. Once installed, it was quick and easy to program my own personal code. I love that it is easy to lock without a code on the way out the door. It is also handy that the buttons light up, as it's in a garage with poor lighting.

Simple to install, unlock, and lock. I would happily purchase it again if necessary.

The installation manual doesn’t explicitly say how to use it once you’ve installed it, but the way you're supposed to "test" it is how it works. It’s easy: to lock, you push the Schlage button, which engages the knob and allows you to lock the door. To unlock, key in your code to engage it, then twist to unlock.

Build quality is pretty good for an under $100 lock. It does not self lock. I missed that in the details. My main issue with this lock is that it blanks out. You push the Schlage button and go to enter your code and the blue lights turn off and you have to start all over. Hopefully this doesn’t become more of an issue in the future. It’s hard to justify spending more within the brand when the low end shows issue right out of the box.Has to try 6 times to get in the house today. Keypad just goes blank. Thankfully, it wasn’t an emergency, but seriously, 6 attempts. Horrible product!

I wanted a basic sturdy keypad lock. The BE365 is hefty and has the highest ANSI rating. I read the instructions, familiarized myself with the package contents and watched several videos before starting installation. Basically it was installed in 30 minutes, granted, all measurements I had were exactly compatible. A couple of IMPORTANT things, the 51/2" measurement between latches is important IF you have an ornate bottom latch plate. I do and the keypad JUST clears. Don't worry if the keypad doesn't fit flush to the door surface when starting the install. the back of the keypad has a couple of raised bosses that dig into the edge of the lock bore when you tighten the baseplate to the keypad. I guess this is to deter strongarm attempts to break in. The included strike and reinforcement plates look nothing like any shown in videos or the instructions. My current strike plate is plenty strong. Programing was straightforward and easy. I had to change 1 of the user codes as it appears on the tag of a car in my drive, what's the odds of that? Deleting the code was also easy. Nothing in the instructions mention how to set vacation/privacy mode, but Google is your friend. There is also no mention of how to use the key to open the lock, the key must be pushed IN hard while twisting to unlock (Google again). I'm writing this review after only 1 day of install. I hope my high marks hold true over time.

Just go with Schlage. I've spent way too much time and money on cheap knockoffs.

So far works as expected

Product works very well with punch code and/or the key. Install straight forward although in caution we had a locksmith install. The locksmith praised the product and especially the brand!
