Great eReader!
Great ereader! I was able to import my previous epubs. When the reader is connected to your computer it comes up as a new drive and you just have to drag and drop the files. The touch screen feels a bit strange at first but I got used to it pretty fast and I find it reacts really well.I love that when you turn it off you can still see the cover of the book! It takes a little too long to boot but usually I just keep it in sleeping mode where it turns on instantly.Great quality for the price!

Easy to use and small
Easy to use and small. The only issue is you cannot see directories in your library. It just puts all the books and pdfs there and above a number it gets difficult to find what you're looking for.

Horrible
Received this as a gift two days ago, and it has already glitched, frozen, and I've had to factory reset it twice. Now it wont even connect to my computer. This is seriously the most stressful device I have ever had to set up. I cant even transfer books from my computer onto it without having to download all these programs. So confusing, so stressful. Just stick with a Kindle.

Forced subscription and died and early death.
Be aware you are going to be forced to either download software to your PC OR connect to the internet and create a Kobo account BEFORE you can use this reader. When you power on the reader you are given no choice. You have to go thru the setup process and connect to the internet. If you do not have access to the internet or just don't want to use the Kobostore, forget this device. Kobo should be much more up front about this!Died after only 4 months of use. Tried resetting. Nothing. Looks resetting, backlighting blinked and red lighting on button flashed. Says it is "sleeping" Very disappointed in Kobo.

Excellent ereader
I bought this to replace a Kobo GLO, which after 3 years I left on a table in a courtroom. The GLO HD is a big improvement:(1) it’s much faster – it switches on and boots up in no time compared to the GLO.Also the dictionary comes up more quickly, and books open faster.(2) the screen really has more resolution (as you’d expect) but also seems more sensitive to gestures. Page turns seems quicker.(3) the lack of a light switch bothered me at first, but the light comes on with a vertical swipe on the left side of the screen, and works extremely well. The light seems more even – it’s a clean light with more of a daylight balance, and when set to about 30% the screen glows even when viewing in a bright room.(4) the on-off switch is a push button instead of a slider switch – an improvement. The slider switch on the original GLO needed a finger nail. This one is easier to use to go to sleep or turn off depending on how long you press it.(5) As on the original GLO, you can set page refresh to between 3 and 6 pages. On the original I had to set it to 3 pages because there was detritus on the screen that needed clearing. The GLO HD doesn’t seem to have this problem – the screen looks somehow cleaner.(6) The GLO HD is thinner than the original GLO and also fits easily in a jacket pocket – it’s perfect for grabbing a short reading stint in a restaurant or while waiting anywhere.I can’t speak to the Wi-Fi – I usually load and sync by hard wire to the computer – I used to get 6-8 weeks of battery life with Wi-Fi off and believed it to drain the battery faster. I usually leave it off unless I need to download a book when away from home.I’m glad I lost my old one and had an excuse to buy the GLO HD.UPDATE Jan 15, 2022Now had the Kobo GLO for six (6) years of almost daily use. The cover looks a bit tattered, but the device looks and performs like new. I get 2 months, on a charge, leaving WiFi switched off, but I do use the backlight all the time at about 26% brightness.I take it with me almost everywhere, and even with its cover it will fit in a pocket or, in a pinch, in the back pocket of jeans. On the few occasions when I forget to bring it, I can read a book in progress on my iPhone using the KOBO app, but it's not as satisfying on the small screen. It does NOT need replacing, but I want to buy a new one just because I can. Now I can't decide between a CLARA HD or a LIBRA 2 (the latter has a 7 inch screen and is not pocketable).I HIGHLY RECOMMEND A KOBO READER.

Love being able to read at night and not have ...
Been using my Kobo Glo for almost a year now. Works well. Love being able to read at night and not have to worry about turning off a light when I'm ready to go to sleep. Holds all the books I need and more. Like it much better than the Kobo Arc I had previously. Less glare and eyestrain.

Liseuse parfaite

My favourite eReader
Before this, I had (and still have) a Kobo Aura H2O. I have to admit that I prefer my lovely new Glo HD; although the screen is smaller (6" rather than 6.8"), I think it's ever so slightly clearer. The major advantage for me, though, is that the Glo HD is much lighter. It's perfect for reading in one hand, or in bed. It's responsive, clear, and the light can be dimmed right down or switched off - either because it's not necessary or because you wish to preserve battery life. The reader itself is small enough to fit in the thigh pocket of my combat trousers even when in a case.I personally prefer to sideload my ebooks via Calibre, but I did test the Kobo store - direct download from the Kobo Store works well, if you choose to do it that way. The home screen on the reader keeps one's last few books read, and/or last books added to the device, in view, which is very convenient. There is a 'recommendations' tile on the home screen, but long-pressing it (or any other tile) will allow you to dismiss the tile if you don't want recommendations. This makes for a useful home screen, especially if you are the sort of person who tends to have one or two (or more) books on the go at a time.Battery life is excellent, although I admit I haven't tested it properly. However, it's good enough that I just top it up 'when I remember', rather than having to do it as a routine - and I'm a keen enough reader that this device goes pretty much everywhere with me.
