it did not come with a power supply, had to solder one together myself taken from my "box of wires" yah know those wires you hold onto that just build and build in hopes of ever needing one in the future. yeah neway, that part of the reason i deducted 1 star. i feel as though that should be part of the products kit. however thats so you can use the remote. it is not required to use the switch (you can just push the button directly on the switch to change modes if need be) the second half of the star i deducted was that about 10 percent of the time it does not auto switch requiring getting up and pushing the button or using that remote that came with it.you need to make sure that there are not 2 units turned on at once or the auto switch will not react. in example i have my ps4, ps3, xbox 360 connected to it. Ant the switch is goes through my surround sound system using only 1 port. if you have the ps4 on pause, and want to throw a dvd on using another system. it will not auto switch. you MUST manually switch inputs.after knowing the above statement. i have them all off and want to turn my ps3 on. 10% of the time it will not switch over unless i push the button. 90% of the time everything works as expected. Having the unit setup as i do and as i feel most would use it for, i feel the remote is sort of lazy mans fail safe for that 10%. like they said it doesnt work 100% of the time. so lets throw a remote in there just incase. If you want it you need to either purchase a universal transformer plug or if your savvy enough salvage your own.word of advice. if you buy this product and use the remote. do what i did to help remember what input is what. on the remote. LEAVE THE PLASTIC FILM ON IT! take a dry erase marker peel back the film under the buttons and write1.ps42.ps33.xbox3604.5.or what ever your configuration is. let it dry and roll the film back over it to protect it from rubbing off. It helps allot if you rely on the auto switch. Or if you just have bad memory.Everything else works wonderful.Best of luck in your endeavors!(Update)Shipped march 25 2014.Item died today. Started reseting automatically? (Best i can describe it) black screen and hdmi power indicator on my audio video reciever started flickering like mad no matter what hdmi input number i had it on. Looked at the box and the blue led was going nuts. Unplugged my ps4 from the switch and plugged ut directly into my AV reciever. And all is fine. Switch is officially dead. Was nice while it lasted. Love the auto switch never had to use the remote really to change inputs. Set up AV to tv and video game consoles to switch. Never had an issue cause if one was turning on the other was off so auto switch was always seamless.

I bought this because I needed a way to connect an Apple TV, a PS3, PS4, and an Xbox One to a tv that only has three HDMI inputs and I didn't want to wear out the HDMI inputs on my TV while moving them around too much. It does work, and it doesn't need a power source as it does pull power from whatever is plugged into it (the item must be on though or it won't have any lights on or anything). My one issue for it is that when the screen is black or a darker color there are these small white dots that appear, almost like static. These are not as noticeable during the times when the screen is not as dark, but during a game or movie with a darker scenes or dark loading screens it did get annoying to see. I did notice a slight drop in picture quality from having the HDMI signal go through this as opposed to having it directly attached to the TV.I guess my consensus is that, if I were to do it again, I would probably buy a better quality one for more money, because I do like the way that it works, just the small static dots are starting to get on my nerves as I see them a lot. This is not a bad product if you are trying to save some money and the dots won't bother you, but if you're doing something more with it, I would suggest buying a better quality one.***********************I'm returning this item because when I tried to turn my PS4 on a bunch of lights just kept flashing and did not display an image or allow for any sound. If I were you I would just go with a better quality item.

Came as described.Did not take that long coming all the way from China.Did notice that there is a spot for a 5w power cord not supplied, however as described it is powered by the HDMI cables plugged into it. No external power cord needed. Love that. As for the remote mine works like a charm. I am sitting about 10 feet from the IR receiver included with the unit. I push the button and it changes source.I highly recommend this product it fills the need of the short sighted manufacturers of today's TVs.If yours did not work I am sorry you should return it for a replacement.Amending my review.Recently my audio has intermittently been cutting out. It is the same problem others have had.I still like the switch and until it gets worse and I have to replace it.I will continue using it, but buyers should know there is some defect in the product that may not present immediately.

I have two devices plugged into this product and then it is hooked to my LG TV. I have my mac mini on the first switch and an xbox 360 on the second. The video has come across clearly and I have not had any problems with the functionality of the device. In addition the price for the switch was quite low and it arrived quickly. I gave the switch 4 stars because you cannot change the input without the remote and I am a bit worried that we might lose the remote at some point, after which we will be stuck on one channel or trying to figure out ways to change the input in a more cumbersome manner.Update 4/17/14 - Since writing the review I figured out how to switch the input without the remote. With this addition my previous main concern is addressed. I have two devices hooked up to this little gadget and it works great. I have not had any problems.

I didn't give it five stars only because I bought this for a family member and have not had a chance to install it yet. It looks very simple to use which will help the person for which it is intended. The only thing that I recommended to the seller was to put info about an ac adapter. It has a spot for one, but one is not included with this product. It would not have been a big deal for me to purchase one separately, but it would have been nice to know before I placed the order so it could all arrive at the same time.
