The Rent Boy Murders (3) (Murder Most Gay Series) Paperback – December 19, 2011

John Simpson has never disappointed me. This is another well developed, well thought out story with just enough hot sex to keep you turning the pages! You feel as though you would recognize the characters if you met them. A good solid read.

Police detectives Hank Capstone and Pat St. James are back, this time faced with a possible serial murderer preying on young men who contact older man online, with the promise to hook up for money and drugs. The investigation is ongoing as Hank and Pat deal with problems on the job, including dealing with a homophobic, alcoholic senior detective temporarily assigned to their squad.Meanwhile, Hank's younger life partner, Shawn, has just finished his degree in finance, and got a job at a bank, with the help of Pat's partner Dean. Following a scary event at the bank, they join their husbands on a trip to New York City for Gay Pride weekend, which they are forced to cut short when they get a lead on the murder investigation.More of a gay romance novel with a plausible mystery added to the mix, the authors include a lot of explicit content, which I found to be a bit unrealistic and somewhat distracting from the story at times. Otherwise, an enjoyable and engaging read, which I give four stars out of five.- Bob Lind, Echo Magazine
