Decent, but NOT made in Japan
This is a decent set. I like all three pairs. I have been cutting my own hair and they are the best pairs I have owned so far. That said, I doubt that they are made in Japan. The "Japanese" language leaflet that came with the set was unintelligible (google translation?!) to me, a native speaker of the language. I have to say that the seller advertises the set falsely, when it is not made in Japan.

Outstanding Pro Scissors At An Unbelivable Price
I should caveat this review by pointing out that I am not a hair stylist and know virtually nothing about professional scissors an other tools of the trade. My better half however, has been a hair stylist for 15 years and is creative director of one the countries top ten rated day spas - he knows his scissors! However, I do know that the old adage 'you get what you pay for' is not always true. I also know a bit about cutlery. As an example I have Carbon Steel Yaxo chef knife, they run about $400. The problem is the knife needs continuous sharpening. One the other hand I have a $90 Calphalon Chef knife in Stainless that is the sharpest, most well balanced knife I have ever owned. My feeling is sometimes you are paying more for the label than the product. I knew my spouse needed new tools and he has had scissors over the years that cost as much $800. Not being in a position to pay this kind of money I started a few days of research and was impressed but skeptical about this set of tools by Harutake - for the price it seemed to good be true, but the 5 star reviews from professional hair stylists really impressed me.After a few days of working with these the report back is that they are hands down the best scissors he has worked with. Incredibly well balanced and sharp. Terrific build quality and perfectly smooth movement. Not to mention Titanium which is harder and lighter than steel makes them a pleasure to use and reduces fatigue. The multi color is quite beautiful and sets the tools apart, clients love the visual and 60 other hair stylists are full of questions about them.As for bang for your buck this is an amazing deal - and I'm thrilled they're such a hit and work so well. For the cost of tax alone on many single pairs of scissors the kit includes:* One 5" scissor* One 5.5" scissor* One 5.5" thinning shears* One Feather razorAll arrive in a nice faux leather zippered case. Each tool is encased in plastic and oiled. The hidden tension screw I understand is something you usually find in high end scissors and prevents hair from getting caught.Made from quality Japanese hollow ground steel and coated with Titanium, this is a brilliant set for the novice or long time Pro. In addition the set is Prime eligible so I received free two day shipping to boot.

Buy, buy, buy!
I'm really not sure how anyone can rate these less than a 5 star... maybe a 4 star depending on your personality, (I guess)! My wife is a professional hairdresser (15+ years) and I purchased these for her birthday. The price point is right where it needs to be for a professional set of shears. She'd kill me if I went above this, as really the quality after this doesn't give you anymore benefit when compared with the actual price. They arrived securely packaged in a box way too big, (this is a positive by the way). They were plastic wrapped down for zero movement during delivery. Almost delivered in a box, within a box. You can immediately tell they are hand made due to the slight imperfections to the aesthetics where thumb and finger holes are. My wife said and hairdresser that rates these poorly due to a non-removable thumb piece is silly. You can clearly see it's non-removable so why would you buy them if your personal preference is without. Also, to point out... ALL shears will dull over time! Again... anyone that feels the need to point this out and give a low rating is silly. Use any blade enough and it will dull. To summarize, if you are looking for a gift for a professional hairdresser or upcoming professional, this is the product for you. Price point is where it needs to be and quality is exactly what you would hope for. In fact... be careful you don't end up cutting yourself when styling someoneโs hair!

It's okay
Very prompt in shipping. I ordered the wrong pair and had to get another one. That transaction was done very smoothly. Although the shears have no longevity. They dull quickly. Definitely not the quality of most professional shears.

I have been doing hair for 8+ years, I needed a back up pair for home and work, these work well for what I need it for. I would reccomend getting them sharpened professionally but other than that they work fine for the price

Excellent blades on the scissors. Saving tons of money on haircuts!
My husband decided to let me try cutting his hair and he didn't hate it, so we decided to drop some serious cash on a decent set of hair cutting scissors. These will not disappoint. We did some research and this is the mid tier with the top tier being $100+ per pair. So for the quality and price that you get, these are a steal. The scissors are ergonomic and my hands do not tire in them while I'm cutting hair. They are also very sharp. Be careful to not cut too much hair at a time (as with any pair of scissors) and watch your hands as you can get cut by these.I would highly recommend this set to anyone who is serious about cutting hair enough to work with professional level tools. Trust me, the ergonomics alone is worth it.

Cheap! Poor quality.
These shears are not professional quality, the blades didnt match up felt very gritty when cutting. Its not a well known shear brand and now I know why dont take the risk.
