Modification required!

The product does as it says replaces the poorly made Mitsubishi keys shell with another poorly made shell. As many other have stated in reviews when you go to install the case with the buttons they supply they case it to thick inside causing the buttons so be unusable. My solution to this problem was to take a dry wall sanding block and sand down the little tabs on the buttons till it was able to close and work properly be careful not to sand off to much or they will no longer work

Not for a Lancer 2010

If you own a Lancer 2010 don't bother with this product. It did not work for me. Also the case does not come with the slit on the side making it impossible to open once is closed.

It's a case

Works great, you do have to snap the old key off the old fob, then use the supplied adapters to mate it to the new case

Didn’t get the complete or correct kit

Apparently there’s a number 1 and a number 2 key adapter. They sent me 2 number 1 and zero number 2 and I needed the 2, so my key is super sloppy...

Had to modify it to fit, broke after six months

Like other reviewers, in my case the Fob was too tight and some of the buttons were continuously pressed upon closure of the frame. I fixed that easily though.Unfortunately, what I thought would be a happy-ever-after ended when the precarious plastic bit holding the key in place broke after six months of light use.

A great replacement for a broken case. Just make sure you install the buttons right!

This is a great product when the part of the case that the keyring sits on breaks. It looks and feels identical to an OEM part while also having a much stronger exterior it seems as well a nice silver Mitsubishi logo on the back (mine was just solid Black originally).A couple words of caution:1st - if you find that the fit is very tight and your buttons are being pressed, I found this to be issue with the fact that the case doesn't have any slots on the inside for the little plastic connections between the buttons (the small connectors that hold all the buttons together). An easy fix for this is to just break off the connections between the buttons so they're all floating separately. This fixed my issue entirely and has no effects on the functionality of the buttons/key FOB.2nd - there are 2 different pieces that hold your key into place, be sure to use the right one. There are also 2 different screws, one for each piece. If you use the incorrect screw like I did originally, it may almost come out the back of the case and not fit quite right. This wasn't an issue for me anyways due to the fact that I epoxy'ed everything together, but just take your time with it and don't rush. Also you WILL need to "break" the key off the original FOB in order to the get it out. Not a big deal, but just be aware of this. Overall once everything was together it was a VERY tight and snug fit.3rd - the case is extremely tight fitting once everything is together and there doesn't seem to be any small groove on the outside of the case (like the OEM FOB) where you can insert a small screwdriver or pry it open easily. This can cause you damage the case if you try to reopen it. Thus, as a quick caution, I would recommend replacing the battery if you think it may be getting low soon and ensure that the FOB fits correctly together so you can avoid taking it apart 4 or 5 times like I had to.All in all though, a fantastic OEM replacement product. Nearly identical on the outside and the buttons and logo on the back are sleek. Just know what you have to do before popping everything out.

Good quality, but no slot to easily open

My old key was crazy glued together because I broke the key off. In an original fob, you'll need to break the key out of the plastic to access the hole at the end of the actual key. This key case uses that hole, and screws through it into the bottom half of the case. Some people had issues with the keys sticking, but mine are totally fine. When I initially clicked it together the alarm button was held down, but after simply pressing it the button freed itself easily. I don't see the buttons being an issue down the road. The only con I have with this fob is that there is no slot to easily pop the case back open. My battery is nearly dead so I need to replace it very soon. Having no slot to pop it open makes replacing the battery a bit of a hassle, nothing majorly hard but it's a simple addition they could have added. The fob looks nicer than my original as well. The silver Mitsubishi logo on the back really pops compared to the black plastic on the original.Overall, worth the 13 CAD I paid. Key is secure and everything fits nice.

Beware

My original 2009 Mit. Lancer key broke so I ordered this replacement. The replacement buttons ended up pressing the buttons when I closed the new case with the electronic device inside. I ended up using the old button pads inside the new case without the panic button pad. Take a look at the picture. It shows the new key with the new case without all the new buttons cause they were too thick to fit in the case.

Perfect Fit Replacement For Damaged Or Marred Exterior Case

Perfect replacement exterior case. The key ring part of the case on ours was broken and this did the trick. I used the original buttons as they were in good shape. A set of instructions would be nice, even if it was just in the product description. If you are even just slightly mechanically inclined it's easy to figure out. You need to grind the plastic from the original key. Figure which holder to use for your key and which screw to use (I started with the small one). I used epoxy to insure a stronger hold on the key. I can't say anything about durability as I just put it together and it hasn't been used yet. It does feel slightly of less quality than the original but at the price it worked perfect for me and it would be a nice way to make the key more appealing to a prospective buyer if you were selling your car.

Ok for the money

The new buttons were so tight in the new case I couldn’t operate them so I had to re-use the buttons from the old fob. Also to do this I had to try and open up the case again and it was VERY difficult to separate the two halves. Now it’s reassembled but with the original buttons in the new case it seems to work ok. Reasonable priced considering the cost of an original!
