New Orleans is one of my favorite cities and I even used to live in the French Quarter for a brief time. It's my pleasure to be able to draw this city that has so many landmarks, beautiful buildings, and streets that it's tough to know what to include and what to leave out. Pictured here is the French Quarter, a Mardi Gras parade float, the Garden District, St Louis cemetery No. 1, streetcar named Desire, Cafe DuMonde, Jackson Square, the riverboats and of course the horses with their carriages that always stand in front of Jackson Square. Also pictured are red beans and rice, Mardi Gras beads, Hurricanes (the drink) and Mardi Gras masks.The illustration on this kitchen towel was created by Tammy Smith, who is a well know independent artist living in Kansas City. Tammy creates her art by sketching in wire because it allows her to keep a looser hand and a more free flowing and warm design.
