Quality product -- worth the money
The bad news is that $14.85 is quite a bit to pay for this tool. The good news is that this tool is worth every penny! If you read the reviews of the cheaper products you will note comments like "The point is made of soft steel and bends or breaks." The point on this "Workline" tool is strong. Two minor complaints; 1) The instructions are in tiny print and need to be more legible. 2) The instructions indicate you can take a wooden mallet and tap the back of the handle to get out the deeply buried staples. That is bad advice since the back of the tool has no striking surface. Instead, use an awl (the kind that has a point and the handle base can be hit with the palm of your hand). An alternative is using a hammer and a nail to lift the center part of the staple you you can get the remover point to fit under the staple. Those really deep staples should be few and far between. Most of the time the staple remover will do the job very quickly. You also need a pair of pliers since sometimes a staple will break in half as it is being lifted out.

It does a good job of removing staples that are not deeply embedded
It does a good job of removing staples that are not deeply embedded. Staples that are deeply embedded, to the point where they compress the fabric, are nearly impossible to remove without using a much thinner blade - I use a hunting knife because of its sturdiness.

Great tool for removing staples (Uphotstery)
I'm a bit overdue in writing a review for this product but I have to say this is the best tool I've used for an upholstery project. I have recovered many a bench, chair and the like. My latest project was to recover a dining room set of chairs that needed the backs and seats recovered. Each piece had over 100 tiny staples to remove, not kidding, and it was difficult to remove each one. I used the tools I had on hand but nothing would work. I went in search of a new tool. This Workline Staple Remover Heavy Duty Upholstery Tool appeared to be just the right tool for the job. Sure enough, it was!! It lifted the staples up and out easily. I will be using this tool for all my upholstery recovering jobs from here on out!In addition to this being a great tool, the owner of the company sent an email to let me know he was there to answer any questions about the tool if I had any. Talk about customer service! All in all I can't say enough about this tool and the company that represents it.

Not the best for narrow staples or long term use
Tip of staple room over was too wide for narrow crown upholstery staples. I modified with an angle grinder. After removing about 40 staples the plastic handle cracked. It's a good idea. Needs some improvement to work long term for upholstery work.

I wished it would have worked
The job I have requires fine upholstery staples. I hoped this staple puller had a thin enough edge to do the job. Sadly it doesn't. It would be ok for heavy Staples but not fine staple pulling.

like a pair of pliers
I wasn't clear at first what the little extra part was for on the staple remover, but then after using it for a few minutes, I figured out it was to pinch the staple, like a pair of pliers, and pull the staple out. We are removing a lot of carpeting from our home and this Staple Remover removes the staples quickly without a lot of effort. I appreciate that. I would recommend this product.

love it!
This item was delivered a day early than it was projected to be delivered and it works great! The only complaint I have is that I wish the end were a bit more narrow to get those very tiny staples. I am using it on my hardwood stairs to remove about 30 staples per stair. Previous owners went staple crazy and this tool is saving me a ton of time! love it. I have already recommended this tool to a friend of mine does furniture upholstery work on the side. I highly recommend this for anyone dealing with removing staples from a floor or a piece of furniture.

Hours of fun...
We had years of staples to remove from around a leaky door and window where the husband would tack up plastic every winter. I got tired of looking at them. When the 8 year old saw what I was doing..."Hey Mom, can I try?" She had a great time and loved the tool. She had an entire coffee cup full of staples when she was done. Its a great tool. It's just a shame that the job entertained her for only a couple of hours.
