Live plants have many agricultural uses, such as removing waste and excess nutrients from hydroponic systems, fighting algae and bacterial growth in farm ponds, and keeping educational aquariums clean. This is the famous Java Moss, which probably needs no introduction. It is easily the most popular and easy-to-grow live moss in the aquarium hobby, and it is also one of the most beautiful. This is a 3" by 3" section of moss, which is enough to start 2 to 3 patches that will grow out quickly. This moss is particularly ideal to keep with dwarf shrimp. If you breed fish, the fry also really appreciate the plant cover. Java Moss also removes pollutants from the water, greatly reducing the need for water changes and preventing "smelly tank syndrome." NOTE: You may receive some strands of moss that are yellow or brown in color - this is normal and the moss will recover within 2 weeks.

Too many pests included
Moss was fine, large portion that greened up well. What I didn't like were the myriad hitchhikers that came with it. Despite rinsing the moss we ended up with 3 different kinds of worms, hydra, pest snails, and various harmless water critters. The hydras are a huge problem because they can kill my shrimp fry. Not happy with this experience at all as I now have to nuke my tank to kill the pests and hope that the shrimp survive it.
