WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE
I can remember seeing this when it came out on HBO. What a great concert. It was a nice balance between the music and the theatrics. Some concerts have so much going on that it distracts from the music. How refreshing to watch someone actually performing and not simply moving their lips!

Seriously Bowie..
Serious Moonlight really introduced me to David Bowie when it aired on HBO, if i`m not mistaken back in the 80`s. I knew of him, but wasn`t a fan until i saw Serious Moonlight. When i came across this dvd on amazon, i had to have it for my collection. I think it`s a must have for any Bowie fan. I`m very pleased with my purchase.

A fantastic performer, gives a fine performance!
If you're a David Bowie fan, then you should check this DVD out! It features David during his Serious Moonlight Tour and includes 3 songs from his, then current album, Let's Dance ("Let's Dance", "Cat People (Putting Out Fire)", and "China Girl"). While not exactly a greatest hits performance, it does feature several of his biggest hits and a few deep cut album tracks. His band is tight and David is a consummate showman, as always.

This was superb dvd that played perfectly. I hesitated buying after reading some of the reviews saying it wouldn't play on their dvd player. I have a standard ten plus year old Emerson dvd player and I had no problem with playback. I would have given this five stars if they hadn't cut out the interaction between Bowie and the crowd between songs. Bowie was one the most genuine and charming rocks stars ever and it would have been nice to see more of his interaction with the audience and the band. Richochet was more of a travelouge than a documentary and I wish it had more footage of him being interviewed.

Great artist. Bad audio.
Ok hard core Bowie fans probably need to own this artifact from a very successful tour. And it's a shame there isn't more tour video between this Serious Moonlight show and the 1973 Hammersmith Odeon farewell to Ziggy (it's a crime that there isn't tour video from the Thin White Duke or Diamond Dogs tours). This video is visually compelling but the audio is really, really bad. The audio sounds like it was played it of an AM radio from across the street.

THERE ARE NO WORDS!
I saw this tour at the football stadium on the night of a full moon and I have to admit our concert was better and Bowie was the most elegant performer I have ever seen.

Yes, Buy - Don't Miss The Extra
Well it was fun to see this tour again. To go thru the "Phil Collin's years" as Bowie once referred to them. It's a great video, especially if you've never seen him perform these songs in the 80's. People will tell you this was a "sell out" or bad music. They are wrong. It was different that what came before it and what came after it.... just like very other tour he ever did. Ch-Ch-Changes. This time period is important. It reached a whole new generation of people. It also gave him financial security. This was after a lotta tough times for him. He was still trying to regain his back catalogue and money was needed to get there. And hey, the music is good... don't care what anybody says. It just makes ya wanna dance and NOTHING that makes you wanna dance is ever bad. Also there is and extra, worth the purchase in my opinion, called Ricochet. It's loosely held together but is more or less three short movies. They have their own stories with Bowie in all of them but mostly they provide some very interesting exposure to the scenery and culture of Hong Kong, Singapore, and Bangkok -the Asian part of the Serious Moonlight tour. DO NOT MISS this part of the video. It's great! Super pleased. I got to see the performance again with no sunburn and no crowd.

Ziggy Stardust forever!
What's bad to say about Bowie? I would consider this a sister companion to LIVE @ GLASTONBURY 2000; THAT'S BOWIE @ his BEST! I purchased BOTH, myself....passed on......too SOOOOOON...

Watch and learn! x
I've given it 5 stars because it's David Bowie. How could I not? However, if you want to hear David's divine voice, forget it!Whoever produced this needs to be strung up! You can barely hear the man you bought the dvd for.The music COMPLETELY DROWNS HIM OUT.Be warned. However, a saddo like me will probably watch it with the 'sound' turned off or down to the minimalist level.I can't believe, for one second, that Mr.Bowie was aware of this, given the perfectionist I believe him to be.(Still, those moves!... ) Lol. x

Bowie Serious Moonlight Tour
Bought this DVD to replace the VHS copy. It maybe slightly dated as it is Bowie in concert in 1983, but what the heck it was a great concert and has about 20 tracks to enjoy. As an extra there is a documentary which features Bowie out and about in Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok, this was shot when he was on the Serious Moonlight Tour, nice little filler. If you like Bowie you will enjoy this (if you haven't got it already). It is very good to see so many companies treating Bowie with respect after his parting and not cashing in, a lot of Bowie products have gone down in price which I think is very good for fans who are catching up with the missing piece of vinyl or DVD.

wait! I can explain!
This tour is better than i used to think, lets get the negative stuff out of the way, the cheesy 80's aspect. much of this is visual and solved by closing your eyes. There is no doubt this would have been much better as an audio release and is far more deserving of the deluxe multi-disc audio visual reissue treatment than the lifeless Glass spider tour. a bonus cd of rare '83 audio like "Joe The Lion", "Soul Love" & "Wild is the wind" would be a real treat. Now the good points, despite the curse of 1980's production you get the sense of a genuine and genuinely live band. Excluding the Tin Machine era this was the last tour which wasn't played to a click track so 83 was the last time these songs could stretch out and breathe. "Breaking Glass" would never swing like this again.Tony Thompson is very precise & hard hitting, Alomar & Slick resume their funk-tastic "Station to station" partnership. Carmine Rojas is a bit frenetic for my tastes compared to dependable George Murray but this is not a big deal. This is the last of those Genuinely funky Bowie Tours that began with the 74 soul tour, the "Station to Station" material along with the 2 "lodger" tracks are highlights IMO, in fact more STS material was played in 83 (5 out of 6 tracks) than in 76 (4 out of 6). Thank god SRV bailed and Earl Slick came back, most of the good things about this tour are down to him, the much bootlegged rehearsal for this tour shows that SRV just couldn't master the more challenging material.in fact more of Station to Station was played in 1983 than the album they were supposed to be touring! - a good thing too!Earl Slick plays the Rock songs like "Star", "Rebel Rebel" & "Hang on to yourself" with more conviction than the experimentally minded Adrian Belew and his cheese-wire guitar tone could manage on the 1978 tourthe bad editing which loses the start of "Station to Station" is criminalif none of the above cuts any ice with you and you want to see Bowie the Artist rather than Bowie the Pop star then i heartily recommend the semi-legal "1978" DVD that has been sold on amazon at various times

Same old picture quality but WOW worth it for the improved soundtrack on its own!
Still vhs picture quality but WOW what an improvement in the sound!!! A slick performance from Bowie full of energy- worth paying for the soundtrack alone. Over the years I lost interest in the let's dance era but ended up surprised at how much i enjoyed playing the dvd when it arrived. The ricochet documentary is a bonus aswell. The only real gripe i have is the fact that fingerprints won't wipe off the gold coloured print on the actual label side of the disc!

PURE CLASS
Bowie giving the fans what they want... Showmanship and hits. This dvd shows him at his best (evidently this tour was too commercial for the bowie diehards of this world) but it nonetheless sold out everywhere so the thin white duke had bigger fish too fry. PURE CLASS

Bowie's most commercial performance, probably, but also simply wonderful
I can never decide whether I prefer Bowie or Jagger or Roger Taylor of Queen, so I suppose I must say I like them all. If you want just one Bowie DVD, it must depend on whether you want him at his most way-out, or just for sheer easily accessible fun. For the latter, I can't recommend this concert highly enough. It's wonderful and Bowie is awesome. (But then he's always awesome.)Packed with so many favourite songs.... Look especially for Crack'd Actor, Young Americans, Heroes, and Fame! Lurvely!!

Grew up watching and listening to Bowie. One of the true greats. This DVD is an outstanding concert where Bowie performs many of his most well known numbers. Like the performer, the DVD is class!

At Last
It took a while to find this DVD of this concert as wasn't released for ages after the actual concerts, so 25 years on I finally get to watch it. Picture quality is ok but in this day and age was expecting a bit better digitally mastered DVD.
