So, this is a tool we all clearly wish wasn't a necessity but it is, so I'm glad it exists. I think. We just got a puppy and have noticed that there are smells that weren't there before, so clearly we aren't watching him enough. This has helped us identify places where he 'hangs' out that we weren't aware of.I will say that the lack of directions (although, how hard is put batteries in, and turn on) makes it more interesting to identify what is pee and what is just 'stuff'. I think there is a lot more 'stuff' that I would like to be able to identify but I'm sure a $10 torch isn't going to help me there. Still, turn off the lights and use this to check out your space...it will be an eye opener. I live in a 100 year old house so I'm sure there are years worth of 'stuff' on the wooden floors all around my house. I came back to Amazon to read peoples reviews to get their experience with working out how identify the differences or how to not freak out about every purple dot you see as this didn't come with any information whatsoever.

I was a bit skeptical about this product initially but we have a four month old puppy and, although we've caught her in the act several times, we couldn't be positive we had cleaned and removed the scent from every spot she chose to relieve herself in. This light definitely let us know what we'd been missing! So much so, there was a small part of me that wished I didn't even know.Cons: we live in a place with lots of natural light so most of our searches have to be conducted after dark for best results. Also, when we used it with batteries that were a bit older, we had to get much closer to the ground in order to see the spots.Other than that, there isn't a thing about this light I don't love. It has helped us find and clean some of our pups favorite potty spots that we didn't even know existed.

This blacklight arrived in minimal packaging - a thin white cardboard box in a bubble envelope. There were no instructions included, but I quickly figured out that the battery cartridge takes 3 AAA batteries (not included). To use, simply press the back end of the flashlight to toggle to rubbery switch.The unit is just under 4 inches long; very small and easy to carry or store. The blacklight works well in illuminating all sorts of stains and substances not visible in normal light. It's a pretty straightforward no-frills UV light, but you'll have to look elsewhere on the internet if you want instructions or more information on just what you can do or detect with it.

I bought the GridLite UV Blacklight because we have a small dog that is always peeing on the rug. My wife swears that she only goes on the rug by the door because we've never seen her go anywhere else and thus this is the only rug that gets washed. I figured that the UV light would be just a gimmick and something I'd be returning the same day I got it.Well....I was wrong. This thing works exactly as described. Urine SHOWS UP and I mean....IMMEDIATELY. While it works much better when it's dark or shady in the room (obviously) it works just as well in full sunlight but you have to put the light a little closer to the carpet or rug or whatever you are looking to detect urine in. It also picks up other stains that you don't see without the black light.Once we saw it worked, the kids went on a scavenger hunt all over the house to see what they could find. They also used it on all of our pets (dog, fish, rabbits) as well as the walls, ceilings and each other.This thing was a blast. Its a full uv blacklight so in addition to finding 'hidden' things that only show up under UV, it also makes everything glow or neon really stand out.Lot of fun to play with, even if you don't have a pet or drunken roommate.It takes 3 AAA batteries.Highly recommend.

The media could not be loaded.  This is a great size for a black light. This is a perfect size for those that need a black light because you can put it in your purse, pockets, bags, or any other small space. I need a black light for items I purchase and the security feature for them requires a black light to check it to make sure it is authentic. There are many different uses for a black light. You can use the light to check for liquids on your carpet if you have a dog that likes to piddle on the floor, you can check tables, walls, bathroom floor, linens, etc. Being a cleaning fanatic checking for invisible spots will allow you to get down and clean those areas, especially in the bathroom, so that germs or bacteria won't build up and get your family sick. Keeping your home clean reduces illnesses which saves you money by not buying medicine or paying for a doctor visit. This does require AAA batteries which they don't tell you anywhere that I saw, but not like that matters. I bought this maybe a month ago and it is already broken. I used it a handful of times and noticed that prolonged use made it start to overheat. What I didn't realize was that heat would melt the batteries rendering the light useless. Luckily I got a free gift card that paid for half of this but even the money I still paid doesn't make it worth it. I am very unhappy with the money I wasted and I would warn people to be careful if you do decide to buy this.
