A peek into Jewish thought from the time of Christ
Finally, the release of considered Dead Scrolls is accessible after 50-some years. These scrolls were assuredly more important than life to be hidden to survive the Roman onslaught. 1QM is translated and interpreted as the "War Scroll". The author makes a worthy early attempt at exegesis. A standardized exegesis remains to be developed into a contextual OT alignment. It will take a century or so to fit the puzzle. We are constrained to early interpretation of meaning. There's plenty to be reasoned here.1QM is an exciting 2000 year voice from the desert. This reader is joyed at the opportunity to consider archaeological evidence of Jewish thought from the messianic countdown of the presumed and ascetic Essene community.

Just finished reading this book, and it gives great insight into the Bible, but be aware that it might change the way that you think about the scriptures, and the way that they have been taught. I don' believe that it changes the scriptures, only the understanding of them. For me it has made the Bible become more alive and meaningful. It will make you think and struggle about what has been taught to you, as the Bible starts to come together with this new knowledge. People will tell you that it is not in the Bible, but it is drawn from the Dead Sea Scrolls which has been said to be the single most enlightening religious works to understanding the Bible. The Blessing from this book is dependent on just how much you want to know about GOD and the Scriptures.

Interesting and Helpful
Mr. Pumpkin has done a great job at helping me understand the "War Scroll." He used Scripture, the Book of Enoch, and the probable situation the writer(s) were facing to show y the War Scroll was written. This book is well written and keeps your attention throughout. If you are looking to get a better understanding of the Qumran community I highly recommended this book.

So far, Lumpkin is using a terrible Bible translation
I LOVED Lumpkin’s books of Enoch!! Incredible insights! In the War Scroll I just can’t get past the over simplified comparison texts of Daniel and Ezekiel in the New International version of the Bible. Especially for these apocalyptic texts, Lumpkin should stick to referring to the King James Version of the Bible. Please! This NIV is interpreting completely wrong! For the best interpretation of Daniel Chapter 11, please see Michael Rush’s book “Daniel 11”.

Fast delivery with great words and understanding of the time to come. the times are here revealing all to the end, however, we ourselves cannot wage war against flesh, only toward spiritual wickedness in high places for those who kill by the sword die by the sword. When the third temple arises we seek his seal into the wilderness.
