I'm very happy with these boots

*by R***H on Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2015*

Overall, I'm very happy with these boots. I had read that they ran large so I ordered a size smaller. The fit couldn't be more perfect for my foot.I also had read that the upper part was tight. They are tight but not uncomfortably so.So, here's my take on it all. Written to mostly help anyone that is in a similar situation as I. I'm almost 64 years old. I have the normal pains and complaints that go with that age. Plus, I have A-Fib, which means I become winded easily.I have a little trouble putting these on, but, only because of my age and physical problems. Nothing at all to do with the boot it self. I just have trouble getting a foot up to my other knee to get it started and then pull it up. Since it's a "Snug" fit, it takes a little effort to pull them on.Once I have them on, the fit is PERFECT. Foot and leg. I've only worn them with blue jeans on and I always put my pants on the inside of the boot. It takes a little work to get the jeans pushed down inside. Once they're on and everything is all set, they really are very warm and comfortable to wear. I've only been outside with them on for about an hour at a time in Michigan Winter. My feet have never felt the least bit cold whatsoever. It's a hard "Sensation" to explain, but, when I have them on, my feet and legs feel Really Good. Just a "Tad" of pressure, but in NO WAY the feeling that you get from a pair of shoes that are too tight and painful. I know that feeling, and this isn't it. You do feel "Warm & Secure" in these boots. If that makes sense. Many times when I come in from outside, I take off all of the heavy coats and cloths and hats and gloves, but, I leave the boots on for a half hour or so more before I take them off, just because they actually make my old legs feel good. Taking them off is a somewhat easy process of just putting the toe of one to the heel of the other and pulling your foot out. No real effort at all for doing this.Another thing I noticed is these boots are rather heavy. I'm telling this story not to make it sound like a critical comment, but rather, an observation for anyone that is less than a young person and in great physical shape. A normal youth. I'm older and things like this are more noticeable. Once I have the boots on, they don't "Feel Heavy." I do find though, I have to make a conscience effort at first to "Pick My Feet Up" when I'm walking or I kind of want to trip over my own feet. After a VERY short time, it's second nature. At first though, you'll find yourself stumbling a bit. A few minutes later, all is good. No noticeable extra effort or exertion to walk in them.I've written this review to be "Older Person to Older Person" because, that's what I am. All of my observations would be Moot if I were 30'ish.I'm a person that accepts the facts that my age and condition do indeed effect my use of a product. I write with that understanding and honesty too. I'm just Telling The Story. No intent to make it sound like a criticism. To be sure that there is no misunderstanding, I have Nothing negative to say. They're really good boots. Well made. Very Warm. Even the tags that were affixed to them when I got them were high quality. You can tell that the manufacturer and the people that made them have a lot of pride in their product and workmanship. Best Regards, Russ

    Another great Baffin boot

*by M***G on Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2023*

Have had 4 pairs of the Hunter model over the the past 12 years and they have always been very warm and comfortable. Decided to try the Trapper. Taking the advice to size down on half sizes I got the 10’s as I have always gotten in the Hunters. They fit somewhat snugger and seem a little higher on the calf and are a bit more rigid with a more solid sole and better traction. Very warm in the Colorado mountains. Great boot!

Comfortable, ever-so-slightly on the big side (expected), and warm.

*by D***E on Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2015*

I live in a moderately warm area of the US that sees some snowfall in the late winter, but nothing too crazy. After the recent snow this year, I realized I needed a pair of dedicated snow boots, even if I only take them out once a year. My brother already owns a pair of Kamik Hunters that I've put some mileage on, so I can make a few comparisons. The rubber on the Baffins..especially the sole, is a little softer and more supple, allowing for a more natural (as natural as you can get in hefty boots) stride. The rubber on the Kamiks is a ittle stiffer and less forgiving, although I think this could come down to preference with comfort. The Kamiks are a little more fitted whereas the Baffins are a little baggier in the ankle area to allow for more layering of socks. I typically wear a 8.5-9 and I go barefoot or use thin socks with the Baffins and there expectedly is a little space in the toe area. The few times I wear thin socks, the fit seems just right. I can't speak to the rubber's low temp capabilities as I use these really just to shovel snow and romp around in the dirt, but I would definitely recommend these alongside Kamiks. I wore these barefoot in 10F weather for at least two hours with no issue. I also love the deep green color.
