They Became Harsher AND More Melodic
A bit of info to preface: I've been listening to Sybreed for a little over 4 years now, having purchased their debut album in 2004 completely on a whim and sample of the song Decoy. I heard a little Fear Factory, a little Meshuggah, and enough beginners energy to come across a something unique, if not 100% original. Still, the album grew on me, and has since become my favorite debut album of all time. But, as with any debut, the stakes and expectations become higher for the followup, so when I heard that a sequel was being created, I was cautiously optimistic, seeking out whatever lo-fi fourth-hand web sample of new material I could find, and while I liked these as well, I still wondered if they could match their original in overall power. As the title of this review indicates, what Sybreed have accomplished here is extraordinary. Their tempos have become varied and the guitar lines faster and more explosive, but their songs' dynamics and melodies demonstrate a band far more 3-dimensional than anything I've ever heard in metal, or for that matter the more specific genre of Melodic Death Metal, which, no doubt, will be the pigeonhole genre in which this album is grouped. It's so much more, though. Revive my wounds shows a band which simultaneously wishes to destroy and worship, and that confusion makes for an incredible shift in vocal output that puts the other disciples of Burton C. Bell to shame. Permafrost uses a commanding build through verse and prechorus to get your attention, until the chorus comes in like an avalanche. Plasmaterial, here as a North American bonus track, has a gorgeous backdrop of synths to complement the powerful main riff, topped off with some of most haunting chorus-work on the whole album. And, Orbital, my personal favorite from the album, takes its time to generate an atmosphere, until eventually detonating with prolonged screaming, perfectly in key, to carry the bridge melody. I have never heard anything like this, and apart from being a massive step up from their origins, this is the sound of a band with almost limitless potential; I can't wait for what's next.

Don't think about it...just buy it!!!
I recently bought Sybreed- Antares from Amazon.com a few weeks ago. It's by far one of the best Metal albums I've ever been blessed enough to grace my ears with it's presence! If you're a fan of Fear Factory, Mnemic, Raunchy and Disarmonia Mundi...then you'll probably mess in your pants(one way or another)when you hear it. Powerful vocals, chuggy guitar riffs with beautiful rhythms, insane drums(Soilwork's Dirk Verbeuren),and everything under the sun. The only thing that could be missing are guitar solos. But, guitar solos would most likely not fit right. I love the album the way it is. It's probably THE best album I've ever heard and I just recently heard of Sybrred a few weeks ago. I just wish I knew what Antares means...I rate this album 6 out of 5 stars!!!

Excellent album!! Better than their previous effort
Incredible Industrial Metal band, lots of keyboards, double kicks, screams and melodic vocals, all done with lots of inspiration and the production is top-notch. If you are into Fear Factory, Mnemic, Meshuggah, Soilwork you should get this album asap. It's a shame it's so hard to find it here in the US.

Mind Altering
The lyrics that are in some of these songs are amazing. Replace the blood that causes your ceasless rebirths with cybornetics; life without the consequence of rebirth. Wow. Now take that, add top notch metal, a awsome vocalist and it becomes etheral. Check out the following tracks: Emma-0 (This song is the coolest thing I have ever heard), Neurodrive, and Permafrost. I really hope these guys do well, because they got alot of talent. Melodic Death Space Metal. Thats to cool

Extreme G and Metal fused
If you ever wondered what metal sounds like from an astronaughts perspective then is as close as it gets. It's like this cd was created on the moon titan and shipped to earth. Awesome in everyway. It's rapidly climbing my most played list on I-tunes.

Worth it!
Great Album. It's full of heart and great song writing. This Japanese import version is worth spending the extra $. It has a great unique track that's not available on the North American release of Antares. Plus it comes with a booklet that has the lyrics in Japanese. Pretty cool souvenir. Plus the cover artwork is different and more interesting.

Like a cybernetic version of Emperor and Dimmu Borgir
An absolute stormer. I discovered this band from seeing Rachel Aspe's cover version on YouTube...the album exceeds expectations. Like a cybernetic version of Emperor and Dimmu Borgir, but with a superb, pop-hook edge, this album never ceases to amaze. For fans of Strapping Young Lad and Emperor at their most melodic. Uplifting and powerful.

My all-time favorite album, ever
My all-time favorite album, ever. The dark atmosphere and the way the guitar is mixed/sounds - my god... Been listening since I was 10-11!
