surprised how bright it is for 6 watts
it is much brighter than the 8w led that i was using. i put it in my kitchen ceiling fan so i can run the fan without leaving the light on all the time. the motion detector works well to turn the light on when approached. it stays on while you are there & for a couple minutes afterward before it turns off. very happy with this light. i may purchase more to place in the laundry room, basement, or hallways. the backup function of yelling the sound "pa" works well. the light went off before i was done, i yelled that & it came right back on. i've noticed people calculating how much energy it uses to keep it on. you don't have to keep it on. i turn on the switch when i go in my kitchen & turn it out when i leave. it works to provide light when i'm in the area that i need it for but if i'm not in my kitchen, i don't usually leave it on. i like that when it's hot, i can choose to run the fan to cool the room without leaving the light on all night. the design works for me.i'm just editing this because i came back to order more & have had them over a year already. i found that in my kitchen if the cats ran under it it would come back on & stay lit after it turned itself back on the second time. i have tenants in my house & it works very well to safeguard against other people leaving lights on unnecessarily. it works best in upward pointing sconces or lamps where subsequent activity won't turn it back on. also works very well in hallways or the basement when there is no activity after it turns off. if i'm in the room & i leave, i turn the switch off to avoid it turning itself back on & save energy. i think it's a great product & after using them for a while i figured out which fixtures they work best in to suit my needs.

Does not work in cold temperatures
I use this bulb semi-outdoors (but totally protected from the elements) on my back porch. For warm weather or indoor use, I would give this 5 stars. It is bright, sturdy, and effective. While it works great in the summer, it fails during cold winter weather. The day/night feature (which would be worthless indoors anyways...) always functions, but the motion sensing stops working correctly when it gets cold out, under ~40F. The light just stays on most of the time -- every two minutes it fades out, and then usually turns right back on again. I'm not sure if this is a problem with all PIR motion detectors in the cold, but it definitely is a problem with this one.UPDATE 4/1/2016: I am now instead using this to automatically turn the lights on in my closet, for which it works well. Still going after 2.5 years

I got two of these lights for my father and he really liked them so he wanted to order a couple more
I didn't plan on writting a review on these lights but now I feel I must. I got two of these lights for my father and he really liked them so he wanted to order a couple more. Upon trying to order a couple more of these we discovered they were going to be back ordered for quite awhile. So, I decided to go with another brand (PANICTECH) because they looked identical and were a few bucks cheaper. When the two lights arrived one of them was disassembled inside its own box which we had to snap back togather. When we tried the lights one of them just stayed on continually. The other one worked once and then never worked again. So, this review comes from the fact that these lights (Chichen Lighting from Polar LEDs) continue to work great and as advertised whilst, the other two were total junk. As far as long term reliability I would not know yet because we have only had them a month. I should add that; the alternative was to purchase a stand alone motion sensor base that screws into a light socket and then you screw your own bulb into it. This is a bulky alternative and decreases head room too much for our needs. As other reviewers have mentioned, the built-in timers are not adjustable and are set to about two minutes. This is about perfect for our needs so that is why the five star rating remains. However, this time may not be satisfactory for everyone.

Convenient all-in-one bulb with motion-sensor
This is an average LED bulb, warm in color, nothing to complain about. It can't be compared to really good bulbs that you can find these days but it is warm and not cool white. The main draw of it is that you have the convenience of a motion-sensor built right into the tip of the bulb. This will work well if you want an inexpensive (PIR style) motion sensor and bulb for a utility room, basement, garage, etc. I have not had any issues with it, but others have (and their claims may be valid so be sure to read up). Do note that this is an inexpensive PIR motion sensor, not to be compared with some of the more expensive motion sensors.

Waste of money
Only turns on in *complete* darkness. Stays on for about 2 minutes (although it didn't seem that long to me) and then turns off, leaving you in total darkness. I waved my arms around right next to it, but it wouldn't turn back on.The translations on the package of the "human body induction lamp" are entertaining, though. I don't mean to make fun of someone's English ability, but it seems like the person in charge of packaging decided there was no need to hire a professional translator and instead used a free web translator.Inexplicably, the package indicates "Sound of 'pa' will make it turn on automatically." I stood underneath it saying "pa" in every tone of voice I could muster, but nothing happened. The package further indicates, "The place under the sunshine is not suitable for the bulb when someone keep close the lamp, it will be on after you leave, the light will be off automatically". Huh?And there's more. It's "economic and portable" - "it will be on when people is here, it will be off when we're off, it's all automatic without human resources, super energy-saving." How does it do all that? "Use the high efficient imported Chip, special assembly style, with high quality PC cover, light is much more average, full and soft." And what about the super energy-saving function? "if needed, if will be on, it will be off on contrary, which is more energy-saving than the normal eternal LED bulb." Oh, now I get it.

Need the right fixture for it to work
Be sure to install in open fixture otherwise motion sensor will not work.
