This thing would make a great medieval torture device!
Like a lot of men I have a problem with snoring, or rather my wife does because I'm usually asleep when the actual snoring occurs which makes me blissfully ignorant of it's effect. My wife however is less than amused and it's at the point that separate bedrooms may be in our future. So I gave the Chin Strap Pro a try, having already tried nose strips (didn't work) and mouth guards (ditto). I wore this for exactly one night and I did wear it ALL night because I really wanted to give it a chance because I love my wife and also because I once recorded myself sleeping and when played it back I thought an angry bear had been in my room while I slept.I've probably had more uncomfortable nights in my life but I'm at a loss to remember them, I got very little sleep because this thing was so uncomfortable and, just for added laughs, ended up with a splitting headache because the device is very tight on your skull. It also pushed my mouth up to the point that I looked like I'd just sucked on a lemon. If some of you at this point are saying AHA! the idiot had it on too tight! Let me just say that when I loosened it it failed to keep my mouth closed which is the whole reason for wearing it in the first place. AND it only put a dent in my snoring, didn't come close to eliminating it. I can't recommend buying this thing unless you WANT to torture yourself while trying to sleep or you want to torture a friend and think you can slip this thing onto their head without them noticing...it may also work as a sling shot or to strap something to the back of a bicycle. If you don't need it for one of those uses then avoid the pain and look for another solution to your snoring problem...my wife has suggested smothering me with a pillow but I don't think we've reached that point just yet...

You could wear this in public...
...if you nap on the bus or train, or on the park bench or in the movie theater. It's somewhat comfortable if it's not adjusted too tight, but then you don't get the benefit of the strap tension. It holds the jaw more backwards than it does upwards which is part of my discontent. But, that is mostly because the upwards tension strap is less beefy than the back strap. I think this strap would have been more of a homerun for me with some of these modifications to its construction. I think it is probably the most comfortable available from what I have seen online - I can't imagine wearing any the other units - they look painful!BTW, it took several washings and a week of airing it out to get the chemical smells out! It is really stinky when you first take it out of the package! Also, beware of the jungle hair you will have after wearing this rig... it makes my girls giggle! Me Tarzan!! And me better rested now, thanks Doc Sleepwell!

In an attempt to save my wife from suffering through another night of my insufferable snoring, I purchased this device. It arrived as advertised. The "chemical smell" that others have described was noticeable but after a machine wash/air dry, it was gone. It is made of a neoprene material and has two adjustable velcro straps. Overall it seems fairly well made, I think the only way it will come apart will be at the stitched seams which I would say are moderate at best. I didn't realize this, but it also comes with a small fabric travel bag to store the strap when not in use. I have slept 3 full nights with this on. It is generally comfortable and hasn't diminished my sleep at all. In the morning, my chin is just a bit sore, but this is gone in 5-10 min or so. My wife says that it has stopped all most all of my snoring. So far, so good. I will update if there is any major changes, but other than the inconvenience of putting it on (and the unattractiveness that goes along with it) this product seems to be doing its job.

Pretty good.
This has worked pretty well for me. I have sleep apnea, and use this in conjunction with a CPAP. I use the nasal pillow style CPAP mask, and often had trouble with my mouth opening up and having air escape. This works about as well as my last chin strap (not an anti-snoring device). I have used the sleepyhead software to analyze my CPAP's data, and have found that I still can have a few episodes of snoring with this particular strap (according to it). While it has not been a cure-all, I have found that any snoring I have, with or without the CPAP, has been quite minor. It just hasn't quite fit the bill for what I hoped it would solve. Also, I did not hand-wash the strap prior to wearing, and it has left black marks all over my pillowcase.Compared to an older anti-snore chin strap, this has held up better (as far as the velcro is concerned).

Made my jaw sore after a couple of hours
I really wanted this to work, but unfortunately it doesn't, at least not for me. The angle just doesn't seem to work to keep the jaw closed. I had to adjust it pretty snug, but it sort of pulled back on my jaw (towards my neck) which caused soreness after only a couple of hours. I woke up and took it off. I think somehow it would need to apply pressure both upwards and forwards (away from the face) rather than backwards. I'm hoping to find another solution, but now I am back to my original method, which works but it annoying - when I am on my back I place an extra pillow on my chest and push it up under my chin. It's just enough to hold my mouth shut as long as I don't move a lot.

Stretches out quickly
Wears out fast. Been wearing it three weeks and it is stretched out, as others have mentioned. As for the snoring, when it was tight my husband reported I was still snoring but it was quieter. Now, he says there is little difference in the sound but it did improve my dry throat issues until it stretched out.A note for those with sensitive skin, I hand-sewed cotton flannel along the chin to protect my skin. Also note that I washed it carefully by hand and thought it was dry. That night. It left black marks.on the pillow case.
