Nice product
I did not buy the complete system as I had functional blue ox tow bar so I purchased only the surge brake receiver insert. I modified my hitch by drilling a second hole to shorten how much hitch stuck out of the surge brake, I also cut 3/4" off my hitch so it wouldn't hit the internal brake.Customer service was helpful as I did talk to them several times.I waited to review until I had actually real road experience.I purchased this over the permanently installed unit as there are no electrical or pneumatic parts to fail it appealed to my practical side. Installing on my 2004 jeep wrangler was easy enough even with my modifications, I didn't like the plastic tube at the front as I was worried it would wear so I welded 2 tabs to the brake pedal so I could detach the cables for everyday driving. More secure the the original mounting.I had the roadmaster brake pro which parts were not available and it was a pain.NOWAt the park I quickly disconnect and set up the RV, easy peasy. It took only a 8 minutes to fully disconnect and stow the complete system ( surge brake and hitch, cables, safety cables and tow bar) in the RV, my old system was easily more time just the get the brake pro disconnected and out.For brake lights I use the the vehicle pedal actuated lights as in a brake away situation they will work, I also carry a bike rack on the jeep which has lights I connected them to the RV for turn and brake lights.

Ready Brake IS Awesome
Oh Boy! This seems Awesome. We are excited to try it out. We have never towed a vehicle before and wanted some kind of brake to be legal in all the states traveling. The reason I am saying it is awesome is we have installed most everything and is very easy my husband said. They even sent a wire with little light bulb to connect the ready brake in back of RV with the front inside of our RV dash so you know that everything is working as you drive down the road. The light bulb is small but VERY Bright! It seems also that with the ready brake in the receiver of the RV before the towing thing goes on, it will give the towing vehicle a little more turning room when towing. At least that is my opinon. We are excited to try it out and will finish the wiring and hook up to the jeep and test it out. The hook up to our Jeep Wrangler 2002, brakes went so smoothly my husband had a big smile on his face! They sent a DVD with for installation directions that we watched a few times before we started to wire everything. Very Nice. The reason I can't actually say we have drove with it is because we are also in the process of hooking the jeep via towing things to the RV too. This is a whole new adventure for us using both the RV and Towing a vehicle. When everything is ready we are sure there will be no problems as it all seems to be installing easliy. I know there are tons of Braking systems out there as we have looked at them all for SURE this seems to be a easy and awesome braking system, give it a try you will be very happy!

Much more cost effective way to add brakes to toad.
I installed this on my 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, as well as the break away system from NSA. The fact that when I am done towing and all I have to do is disconnect one more cable to drive off in my Jeep is awesome. Since I was pressed for time (and forgot to order it), I used a 3 inch piece of 1/2 inch schedule 40 PVC pipe with a hole drilled through it to act as a spacer since I have the Blue-ox tow bar for it. That actually worked pretty well. When installing this on a jeep, it appears that jeep already has a location for the hole in the firewall in front of the brake pedal. Look up there from the inside and you'll notice it. Install didn't take too long. The longest part of it was because I'm anal and wanted a decent mount for the cable, but not drill/tap into the frame or tow bar mount. I tapped the mounting tubes that were on the blue-ox tow bar and fabricated a piece of aluminum to bolt it into place. Took a couple of tries to get the brakes to work correctly, but other wise this is an easy morning install. Noticed quite a difference when I was driving on our trip through the mountains of Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota. Only complaint is that the brake light included to mount in the dash didn't work. I think the LED was bad as bypassing the switch on the receiver still didn't get it to work.

Simple, robust and easy to install on most towed vehicles--but not 2021 Cherokee
Awesome technology, all mechanical with no electronics except for the indicator light. Normally a simple process, simply run the cable to the firewall, drill a hole and mount it to the brake pedal. I bought this for a 2021 Jeep Cherokee and simply couldn't figure out how to get the hole through the firewall. I called an installer listed in the NSA website, and he won't do it. It's possible but too much work with very tight tolerances. He stated it was good on almost every other vehicle, including the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler, just not on the Cherokee. Unfortunately, I didn't get started until it was too late to return.
