Great value when bought as a set of three. The seemingly flimsy frame pieces turn out to be sturdy and robust when assembled. Easily assembled by one competent person if you have a handy wall and good light, less risk of twisting a frame piece with someone else to support the early build. Instructions are clear but pay attention as even by my 9th rack I was still putting the odd rail in upside down. Rubber mallet supplied, you will need a large screwdriver or old chisel to bend the locking tabs on the under shelf braces. Do NOT be tempted to bend out the tabs on the shelf braces, it's not needed and there is a knack to clipping them in that you will find after fitting a couple.

This rack is very durable. The metal feels soft during assembly but becomes quite strong once fully set up. It comes with a rubber hammer, which is very useful for assembling this brand’s products. The joints fit tightly after using the hammer. I have a similar rack from another brand that doesn’t require a rubber hammer, but for this brand, the hammer is definitely helpful. The shelf boards aren’t perfect, as the packaging inside the box may cause some minor paint damage. Note that this rack doesn’t come with a connector kit to link multiple units together, but it is available for purchase separately. However, I don’t think the linking kit is necessary—once the rack is fully loaded, it’s heavy enough to stand securely on its own.

Delivered with each bay in a seperate box - I assembled the bays over a number of weekends. Opened the first box, quickly realised that assembly would require a rubber mallet - went out and purchased from the local store, came to assemble the final bay - last box and was suprised to find a rubber mallet! So despite what I wrote in the original review there is no need to buy a rubber mallet - Note to BiGDUG it would be useful if the box with the mallet was marked in some way - thanx Assembly - MOST IMPORTANT BUY A RUBBER MALLET - essential for making the assembly easier. Assembly instructions are not great - could do with clearer drawings / photographs, but after the assembly of the first frame elements, it goes together relatively easily and quickly. The design is very clever the frames clip together - this works well, but the upright frame was a bit problematic because the frame elements that clip together were distorted and had to be bent back into shape for the clips to engage correctly. The frame elements are relatively flimsy, but once assembled the units are relatively sturdy - great for what we wanted to store stuff in the garage that will only be occassionaly accessed, but this could be a problem for storage where stuff needs to be frequently accessed. Overall the shelving units look good and do the job required.

I wish I had got alot earlier. Very easy assembly, sturdy and has transformed a storage area and still have alot of space on the shelves.

Great shelving units, I messed up and ordered 2 thinking it was 2 units, 6 boxes turned up at my house on a lorry and on a pallet. These units are so good I decided to keep them all and replace some other shelve units that are past their date. Easy enough to fit together just take it steady and enjoy the final product. Would highly recommend.

Decided to purchase these BiGDUG racking units based on other positive reviews. I can agree that the frames seem flimsy during construction but become reassuringly rigid once the shelves are installed. It was relatively easy to put together and did not require two people for assembly. The only instance of concern was the splicing of the bottom and top vertical legs which did not fully engage. Anyway, the three units are now residing side by side in the garage, looking good and easily holding the weight of years of typical garage stuff that I’m reluctant to throw out!!!

Works well. Feels flimsy until constructed when it is then quite sturdy and fit for purpose. Instructions could be improved...carful to get the crossbars the right way up.
