Simplicity
I was somewhat skeptical before I bought this based on mixed reviews. I bought mine(2 cup) in 2017 and in mid 2020 I’m still using it everyday. It’s super simple. The one I got came as I had hoped based on the product description. I’ve seen some reviews that got delivered a broken or bent unit. Amazon offers returns. Most of the not-so-positive reviews were about cleaning and it pouring slower and slower over time until just not working.I rinse mine out thoroughly with hot water from the sink after every use(maybe 30-40 seconds). I guess you could call it a trick, but the only thing I make sure to do after each brewed cup is make sure to empty the grounds out then rinse from outside of the cone. So the rinsing water flows opposite of the way it would pour coffee. My theory simply being that if I rinsed the inside first I’d be pushing fine grounds, sediment and oils further into the filter, embedding it and eventually gumming it up. That’s it. Just rinsing it upside down until all grounds are out before rinsing the inside. Maybe once a month I’ll throw it in the dishwasher. Occasionally I’ll scrub it with soap and water, always letting it drip dry overnight. The 2 cup model that I got only holds so much grounds before it’s somewhat ineffective, kinda common sense. If you fill the entire cone up with grounds and pour over, it’ll take a while. Simply because the water is struggling to flow through so much grounds in a small and shrinking space(the cone). Not so much that the filter is clogged. Trust me I’ve tested the limits. If you’re getting this to make a cup of coffee for multiple people at once you’ll be disappointed or you’ll have to make 1 cup at a time.Knowing the size of grounds you’re using is crucial for any brewing method. Most people overlook that and blame the apparatus, but it’s simple.I sought this unit out because I like making one good cup of coffee every morning. I can’t stand over roasted, burnt coffee from a drip maker. Mostly I wanted to get away from bleached paper coffee filters that filter out too many of the oils, which is where the distinct flavors of the coffee beans lie. I like a French Press, but I just enjoy the pour over method a bit more.I’m going to order the larger 4 cup model very soon, and hopefully it comes as advertised. Honestly, these days, ordering anything off Amazon is a crap shoot. Always a 10-20% chance that whatever you order is gonna be broken, defective, or just wrong. Amazon Returns. It’s not an A+ cup of coffee every time. Sometimes it’s just a B+, some of the inconsistency is from me. However, 3 years ago I payed $16 for it and have used it at least once everyday since and it hasn’t let me down even one time(hope I’m not jinxing it). When you rinse it out, just remember, it’s better when you do it from behind!!

I've used this pour over for about 3 months now and I like it a lot
4.5 stars. I've used this pour over for about 3 months now and I like it a lot, but it has one flaw that could be a deal breaker for someone else.First, the pros:1. It's well made. It feels solid and well put together, and I haven't experienced or seen any potential defects.2. The steel is indeed high quality, and there is no metallic taste (leaching) in the coffee. It is definitely more full bodied tasting than the paper filter pour over that I was using before acquiring this one.3. Even though the paper filter is easier, I enjoy using this model more. I hated throwing the filter and grounds into the garbage. Although it requires a little more attention than a paper system, it's no big deal. I put the grounds into a compost bin now, and hand them over to my wife every couple of weeks. I know that I could have done the same thing before, but minus the paper filter, it just seems better now.4. It is very easy to clean. I tap and scrape the remaining grounds into the compost bin, and then use a bristle brush with soap on both the inside and outside of the cone. I haven't experienced any oil build up that would impede the flow, which I read about in other reviews of similar models. This leads me to the one flaw (but not a deal breaker for me):1. From my estimation, there is less steeping that goes on here, as compared to my paper filter, and I am required to use more coffee to get it to the strength that I like. The water just seems to go through a little quicker. I am not sure if this is due to the whole size of the inner and outer mesh, or not, but it definitely seems to move through quicker, and therefore steep less.To ameliorate this effect, I use a little more coffee than I would use with a paper filter. IN ADDITION, I drip the water in at first and allow the grounds to "bloom". I then slowly pour the water over the grounds, only allowing it to rise about mid way up the cone. I then stop, let it work its way through, and repeat until my cup is full.I never pour water in too quickly. Nor do I pour water on the upper reaches of the cone (no grounds up there), letting the water slide down into the grounds. That just puts hot water, instead of coffee, into your cup.To conclude, I really enjoy this pour over, and I'm glad that I purchased it. I use it almost every day (sometimes I crave the French press), and if it steeped just a little bit longer, it would be perfect.

Love it for straining whey off homemade milk kefir!
I bought this to strain the whey off homemade kefir so I can use the whey to make other ferments. The whey is beautifully clear and has no milk solids! It's slow to strain because the mesh is so fine, but that's fair. I bought the 4-cup size so I didn't have to refill as often when working with a large batch. I appreciate the stand for the funnel so I can prop it on top of a mason jar and not worry it will tip.It is reasonably easy to clean, though I worry that over time, sediment will build up between the two layers of mesh and it will be too hard to clean them out. The instructions recommend how to clean out coffee residue and from other reviewers, it sounds like they have mixed success. Besides, I worry that the recommendations that address coffee oils/residue may not be sufficient for milk solids. But so far, so good. I've used it three times so far and hand washed immediately after use and then also ran through the dishwasher, hoping that helps prolong the life. I can see how a buildup between the mesh over time could make it nonfunctional. I'd give 5 stars if there was a guaranteed reliable cleaning strategy, perhaps making the 2 layers of mesh nest for use but come apart for thorough cleaning. Before buying this, I used to strain my kefir through muslin cloth and wash the cloth, but it was messy, the cloth absorbed some of the whey and I always worried the cloth wasn't cleaned well enough. The cloth also let through fine milk solids that clouded up the whey which I worried would spoil in my ferments. So far, the brewologist wins!

Have been using this for a couple of months now every morning and I've to say it's of very good quality and constructions and a lot more environmentally friendly than using more traditional filters.

Tutto ok

Anfangs top dann flop
