TopCell MK-9614S 9.6-Volt 1.4 Amp Hour NiCad Stick Style Replacement Battery for Makita Tools

I've had this item for several months and it barely holds a charge espcially if it gets cold outside. I've had the original battery for over 5 years and once charged it holds the charge for weeks if I don't use it much.If you need only a standby, it's OK.

Nice to discover that there are still replacement batteries available for a drill that's as ancient as mine. The original battery that came with the drill lasted for 10 years, so I was doubtful about even being able to find a replacement. Glad I searched Amazon first.

I received Li-Ion not NiCad. The Li-Ion is better - holds a charge better, however my charger would not charge the battery. Thus I had to buy a charger capable of charging the Li-Ion battery. The overall cost went up considerably.

I purchased this as an alternative to the 9.6v Makita stick battery because of its stated higher amp hour rating and lower cost. The good news: it fit into my 3 Makita tools requiring this size battery (drill, small circular saw, flashlight). And at first the charge seemed to last a bit longer in use than the original Makita. The bad news: the stick did not retain its charge for long when not in use. The worst news: in under a year it would no longer take and hold a charge at all. I also bought the 12v version and am experiencing a similar problem. Not worth the savings over the Makita.

Awful, simply awful. After charging for 20 minutes, the battery over-heated to the point that the glue holding the non-charging melted and everything inside popped out. Don't cheap out, drop the extra twenty buck and get the real thing. Personally, I think the 5 star review must be from someone who works for the company. This product made me wish amazon had negative stars.

I have purchased many replacement batteries for my Makita 9.6 volt drills over the years and this has to be the worst battery I've used. It has a short life per charge and does not last long over the long term. I use my drills in production almost daily.

This has been a really good item I would recommend it to anyone.
