Not just for Woodpeckers!
Wood peckers love these and so do my squirrels! I don't mind the squirrels enjoying a little peanut butter especially in the winter. The peanut butter hardens a bit, but that doesn't stop the birds or critters. I bought 2 so all I have to do is prepare one to replace the other. This way I can clean the other and let it dry in between uses. I plan to get a couple more to make my own peanut butter suet feeders. I'll just mix in some chopped nuts, safflower or sunflower seeds with the peanut butter for the cardinals and chickadees to enjoy fall thru winter. Hang the feeder in between a few horizontal branches for the other species of birds to eat from the top of this feeder. The bottom of feeder does have a wood dowel for birds to perch. One of the dowels broke on mine so a twig from a tree fits and looks just fine.

It's OK - But it's a Squirrel Attractor
Pretty simple design. Rough edges on the cedar board could have been smoother or at least sanded. This is a little labor intensive to add peanut butter or suet butter and seed every day and so far has attracted chicadees and a few yellow rumped warblers. Most other birds have just avoided it. That may change with time. If you have squirrel problems this one will not be very effective

Look for something else
This product is very poorly made. The wood is chipped around the edges and there really isn't a lot of space on which the peanut butter will cling to the grate. The peg was super hard to put in, and I wonder if it will be too short for birds to perk on. I wouldn't purchase this product again. I expected to have something that didn't look like it was put together in an elementary school art class.

Picky Birds
The Peanut Butter Feeder is good quality. The problem I have is the birds were not interested in the peanut butter. I used all natural peanut butter that I had--not some that was made for wildlife. After a few days in the hot sun, the peanut butter was nasty. I tend to the feeders weekly so this feeder is not very practical for me.

Great feeder, large enough and has a perch.
I really liked this feeder. It is wood, so we will see how long it lasts with the raccoons and squirrels. I do find it to be large enough to hold a lot of peanut butter. The perch is a huge advantage, especially for birds who cannot cling......the biggest reason I bought it.

It does its job but I could have made 10 ...
It does its job but I could have made 10 of these for what I paid for it. It's litterly an unfinished piece of wood (with large digs in it) with some fencing stapled to it.

The only thing I was slightly disappointed in is that it didn't come with any hook ...
Appears well made, no sharp edges, or anything. Birds have not been using it much yet. The only thing I was slightly disappointed in is that it didn't come with any hook or nylon filament or anything for hanging. Not a bog deal, bought an inexpensive shook at the hardware store.
