NOT as described. Creates sharp – not smooth – edges.
Does not leave a smooth edge. In fact, creates a razor sharp edge on can lids when opened with this opener.Side note – I'm so sick of seeing product reviews from people who don't actually purchase the product, but are given it for free or at a discount for their "unbiased" review. Both Amazon and these sellers are really very stupid to allow this to happen as it ruins the customer experience. They caught me moving to quickly this time, but as a rule, I won't purchase from sellers who use this method to bolster their reviews. I encourage you to do the same. Let's stop this nonsense.

Pretty, but fails to do job it's designed for
It doesn't work reliably. As you turn the crank, the opener loses its grip on the rim of the can. This causes the blade to lift out of the incision and the can to stop turning. You have to keep releasing the can from the opener and trying again. My cheap supermarket opener worked better for 20 years than this one did out of the box.

Cheap material; broke after a month
Can Opener broke after a month. We used it 5-10 times and were disappointed when the gears bent and no longer grips the can tightly. My guess is the material properties are poor and the tolerances are loose. I'd recommend a can opener that has more reviews than people who have received promotional discounts.

Update on this piece of Garbage...It has been unable to even open any cans anymore along with one handle constantly falling off along with the metal Bendingbeen using it 6 months and now I will be recycling it in my trash and My Garbage Men refused to take it for recycle !!!!DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED $$$$$$

I was super excited about this can opener after researching options
I was super excited about this can opener after researching options, however, this can opener sucks. After just a few months with barely once a week use, it broke entirely. I've tried to repair it, but the product is cheap and sucks. Now I'm in the market for a new can opener if anyone has any suggestions.

Worst purchase ever, not as described
I needed a replacement can opener for super market purchased opener that failed. This opener is described as "Heavy-Duty Stainless Steel," well it is not. The handles are stainless but the opener is chrome plated steel. I kept it because I needed an opener. It worked for about a month. Now the gears do not mesh and it is useless except as a bottle opener. Worst purchase I ever made. Do not buy, it is not as described.

Revised Review
I originally gave this can opener 5 stars but after using it for a couple of months, I've changed my review to one star. When I first received this can it worked like a dream. However, with just a couple of months of use, the cutter has stopped rotating thereby making opening cans impossible. In addition, it was pricey for a can opener. I highly recommend to anyone thinking about purchasing this can opener DON'T!

We bought this can opener because of the great looking reviews, but now that we have had it the gears have started stripping metal and not opening as good.
