NuVinci 360! A real Wow factor, and I installed it, and no more clunky derailleur!
I am not a bicycle mechanic, but I was able to install this on a second hand Schwinn Network 3 that was rapidly falling apart under my 240 lbs of lard! It took me a couple hours to true the wheel with the bike turned upside down and using the brake pads to true the wheel. The stock rims had an ERD of 581mm, and using an online spoke length calculator with 2x lacing = 250mm, I used the rear derailleur for a chain tensioner, keeping the original chain 116 links, setting the limit screws to keep the chain at 49mm chain line..and kept the front derailleur operational to give me a little more lower end to make it easier to go up the steeper grades..I added Ergon Grips, Cloud 9 seat, Shimano Bottom Bracket, headlight, 27in handle bar, handler bar extenders (to accommodate grips) and extension bar for light. The cable housing and shifter cables just pay attention to detail!!! The NuVinci 360 đđģđđģI really enjoy the ease of shifting, and I was always having to adjust the derailleurs, moreso because they were Walmart Bike quality. The frame, I had to make the call that it was worth adding the better components, (especially the Nuvinci) and I think I made a good call, and this bike is just for the exercise on the local bike trails, No Tour de France! I was initially very apprehensive about buying the Nuvinci and being able to install it, lace the wheels and such, and with about $50 of inexpensive bike tools.... the biggest challenge turned out to be selecting components with the proper dimensions.... so my advice if you are on a budget and have a more recent Walmart Bike, with the cheap parts breaking down, in my case the freewheel locking up and bending the derailleur, bottom bracket with cheap bearing and too much slop...and if the frame is worth adding better components I would highly recommend the NuVince 360, the 380n was a little out of my price range! Shifting gears with no derailleur clunking and and no more whoops wrong gear...Quite the Novelty! and my second hand cheap Walmart Bike a joy to ride...
