Just Plain Awful
I usually am never motivated to write a review, however this book was so horrible that I just can't be silent. There is so much wrong with this book for so many (14) to rate it so highly. I actually feel like I was conned. After reading the other reviews, I was expecting suspense, murder, and dash of romance. I got the murder part, I just didn't know the victim was the book. The first thing that jumps out at you is the plot. It comes straight out of a soap opera; from the 1980s.You can actually guess who the killer is after about 75 pages or less; which isn't a challenge for an avid reader.Another problem is the terrible grammer. It's so bad that if a middle school student was to turn this in, they couldn't even hope to get a passing grade. I try not to fuss over a writer's "style" but this is too much. The errors are present from start to finish with misspelled words, words that just don't belong in the sentence (ex. "She was touch old woman" instead of tough and "rying" instead of trying), and just plain awkward phrases that no one uses regardless of class, geography, or social standing. You literally start to feel like someone is trying to hurt you using English. The author was in desperate need of a proofreader and an editor that will actually pay attention to the quality of work their attaching their name to.One other thing is that you can't get a feel for what the characters even look like until almost 100 pages into the book. This makes it hard to picture the story when you have only the vaguest idea of what the characters look like.Last but not least, the author ruins the characters. She takes the supportive and extremely forgiving best friend and does everything to try to get the reader to hate her just to make the lead character look more magnanimous when the BFF has every right to be angry and hurt. To make it worse, it's done in such an obvious turn on a dime way that it leaves you feeling frustrated and ready for the book to just end already. She then takes a perfect opportunity for the whole redemption and forgiveness cliche (which would have made this a 2 star book) and just utterly destroys it in a completely unrealistic mess that has you skimming the last chapters just to see if you correctly guessed who the killer was. After all that, the emotional fallout of who the killer is is left unexplored from the point of view of the person most affected by the entire situation. All in all, it hurt to read it, I'm amazed I finished it, and I absolutely paid too much. Definitely a must miss.

Sassy is definitely sassy!!!!!
This book was equivalent to a murder-mystery. The author put the right amount of intrigue to the story. Once I thought I had figured things out, but then I was wrong!! End result......very, very good read. One can see the jealousy, sibling rivalry, humor, intrigue, independence, gutseyness (is that a word?), strong manhood representation, sense of strong family values and more in this book. For me this book ran the gamut of emotions. I would recommend this book & have to my friends.
