I will never purchase another "Adventures with Purpose" disc
When I purchased this Blu-ray, I assumed it would take me on a journey throughout Egypt, exploring the many pyramids, tombs and temples. Boy, was I wrong. It wasn't until I played the disc that I saw that the correct title of this program was "Egypt: Quest for the Lord of the Nile." Had Amazon included the full title in its listing, I would have been suspicious and would probably not have purchased it.This program is hosted by Richard Bangs. I've never seen him before, and now, having watched this program, I never want to see him again. I find him to be completely annoying, and somewhat patronizing. The entire program is spent talking about and searching for crocodiles. Here is a country with thousands of year's worth of history, yet the program wastes so much time in Alexandria and Cairo, talking about crocodiles. They do not explore any pyramids (contrary to what it says on the cover), and they only enter 1 or 2 tombs and a few temples. They eventually go to the Valley of the Kings in southern Egypt, a place which is historically and archaeologically rich, yet they hardly spend any time there, preferring, instead, to talk about...crocodiles.And, to top it all off, the program turns into environmental propaganda when it tries to tell us what we can do to preserve crocodiles. Bangs actually asks some Egyptian fishermen what people can do to help them with their crocodile problem. Ya...I'll get right on that...If the purpose of this "Adventures with Purpose" disc was to waste my time and money, then it absolutely succeeded. If, however, the purpose was to give me a better appreciation of Egypt and its history, then it failed miserably.
