Perfect in every way
These appear to be the same material and construction as the Carhartts that I've worn for nearly 10 years and can't wear out but finally outgrew them. The material is tough but they're nice enough to wear out to casual dinner, etc. There are plenty of belt loops. The phone pocket accommodates my big iPhone 12+.I take 'em out of the dryer warm and smooth 'em out and wrinkles are not a problem.I'm 6'3" 260 lbs and wear pants below my belly and the Relaxed Fit is good for me. The Loose Fit didn't work for me.

If you wear them on your lower waist, then size down.
Great Shorts! Thick and Durable. Breathe well and Stretch well. Large and deep cell phone pocket. I have the Samsung Z Fold Brick. It fits and stays in the cell phone pocket at work. Inside of the Pockets are the same thick material as the shorts. Dirt and dust wipes right off. I am very happy with them. If they last I'll prob get another color.Sizing:I read the reviews about sizing up. I would agree that carhartt pants and Shorts Run Small at the waist, at First. After I've worn them for an hour or so the waist stretches a whole size up. I normally wear a 38 waist. Lately my 38 are falling down and bunching up with my belt. I'm 6' 225. My 38 s have been baggy on me after that initial hour I was talking about. I do have a slight belly and my pants sit underneath my belly on my lower waist. I ordered 36. They were tight as hell only on the waist. I wore them to work and sure enough, they are a 38 now. I also do NOT need a belt with them! I also hang dry my work clothes because they get washed so much. I hope this helps people that are in between sizes like me. Just know if u get the size down or exact waist, it's gonna hurt your belly until u stretch them out.

Durable
The outside (outward facing side) of the back pockets are lined with Cordura nylon. My wallet eventually wears through this area of my other shorts cotton shorts so that is a great feature. I am not a fan of the dark color of that Cordura lining where one can see it or the dark faux leather knife clip patch on the right hip pocket because my shorts are a light color. The ripstop cotton is lightweight enough to be comfortable but heavy enough to be durable. I am a big fan of the very large watch pocket. I use it for ear plugs. The cargo pockets have snaps. I prefer Velcro but the snaps work. The hammer loop is a little too small to use easily. There is a pocket on the right side rearward of the cargo pocket. Its opening faces forward and it does occasionally catch on things. I was working on kitchen cabinets and it kept catching on the cabinet knobs. The relaxed fit model is roomy enough to get up and down as in working on plumbing under a sink without binding. Overall I am please with these shorts and ordered two more pairs.

Durable, Handy Phone Pocket
These are probably my favorite shorts for casual wear and travel. I love the little side pocket that carries a smartphone perfectly. The one thing I will say is I have noticed that the sizing seems to have changed and they run a little small compared to the sizing in the past. I wonder if this is due to the phenomenon of shrinkflation not using as much fabric to save money. Not sure but I know that my waist isn't any bigger and I had to go up from a 38 to a 40.

Fit is true to size
If you normally wear a 34” then order a 34”. These are heavy duty, rugged feeling, tough material. Perfect for working in. They look great, launder well, don’t shrink. They don’t flex in the waist but they are comfortable everywhere else

Good Shorts But Need Improvement For Tradesmen
The shorts fit well and true to size. Pockets are deep and useful. One area of improvement is the right side knife pocket. The bottom should be sewn shut across the bottom so it can be used for utility knives without a clip. Could also be a little deeper. One other area of concern is how well will the fabric hold up over time. I’m an old guy and remember when Carhartt canvas duck was tough as nails. This fabric isn’t even close to it.
