Tear by hand, not with scissors/knife (learn from my mistake to read the directions)
Used this masking tape to protect the deck of my sailboat while refinishing the toe rails with Sikkens Cetol. At first it was a real struggle because I tried cut the tape with (dull) scissors, then a (sharp) knife. The tape would resist, bunch up, and stick to itself. Then I read the instructions (duh!) and saw that it should tear easily just using one's fingers. What do you know - it did! Everything was smooth from then on. Good protection, easy to lay down, and comes up with no residue - even after being on the boat decks for a week in the sun.
