Good sound quality, long battery life
Works very reliably, sound quality is very good, and the battery lasts for hours. Our TV only has optical audio output, so we had to purchase a converter to go from optical to the audio jack inputs on the base station. I purchased this one from Amazon and it has worked flawlessly- J-Tech Digital ® Optical SPDIF Toslink / Coaxial Digital to Analog Audio Decoder Converter with PCM , 5.1 Dolby Digital & DTS Support. Both the headset base station and the convertor need 120v, so you may need an extension cord (TV and cable box may already be hogging the electrical receptacles). One consideration- you can certainly connect the base station to the audio outputs on a cable box that feeds your television (almost all of them have the proper audio jack outputs so there would be no need for a converter box like the one I describe above), but if you do that, you won't be able to hear the audio from your TV when you are pulling content directly from the internet to your TV (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc) and bypassing the cable box. That's why we connected to the TV even though it would have been easier to connect to the cable box and avoid the $40 cost of the converter.

Easily get wind noise when using outside.
Good product but when I casually ride my bike I get a lot of wind noise. Also when walking on a breezy day. A tighter fit would be an improvement. The sound is fantastic but the wind noise is very disappointing and distracting.

Sony Improvement
Sony has really done their homework this time, improving performance and design on this model. I previously had Sony MDR-RF970R model and since I live in an apartment headphones are a must. My previous model crackled and popped but I suffered through since 2012. Then about a month ago the frame broke, no fault of Sony's, they got sat on. I duck taped and still used for a time but then I realized I was going to have to replace. I looked at all available choices leaning toward Blue-ray, but all reviews had some problems. I thought I would give Sony another chance and bought these. I am very glad I did. These are better designed, sturdier and more comfortable. They have an on/off switch instead of automatic when placed on head, a possible cause of some noise problems with previous set. I like the charging set up on new ones, far easier to use than old set. And the best part of all, no snap, crackle and pop, that should only be for cereal. Today I ordered another one of these headphones to replace my other, I had two headphones, life is good!

Head phones are OK but have three problems
These head phones have reasonable range around the house but suffer from three issues:1) The head phones are heavy, i.e. 1970s over the ear heavy. But they due block out external noises like a person trying to talk to you.2) The RF receiver in the head phones does not have adequate stop bands outside the 900 MHz operating region. What you get are beat freq. in the audio due to strong signals outside of 900mHz aliasing in. This seems to happen when a strong WIFI signal is near, for example a WIFI signal from a wireless home router or a WIFI enabled TV. Adjusting the antennas on the WIFI source can help reduce or eliminate the beating noise. The receive pattern in the head phones needs another10+ db of rejection in the region of WIFI signals.3) Hi frequencies in the audio seem to be attenuated a bit so if you are using these due to hearing loss, i.e. keep the TV sound volume reasonable for the other person or persons watching, it may not help as much as normal head phones.

Random clicking sounds - even after 2 pairs. Do not recommend.
I ordered these to replace a much less expensive pair of RCA headphones that finally broke after many years of use. I was excited to be upgrading and was looking forward to the improved sound and noise cancellation. Unfortunatley, the first pair I received was defective: there was a clicking or popping sound that would occur frequently and randomly while using. I read the manual, tried all possible adjustments of the headphones and my system, all to no avail. I exchanged the unit for another. The second pair has the same issue, just not as bad. On some shows and movies they don't make the noise at all, but on others it is quite bad. I've tolerated it thus far but will likely throw these in the bin and go back to a cheaper version. 1/10, do not recommend.

Not Just For Vizio
I don't know why they list this for Vizio TVs. It is the standard Sony MDR-RF985RKC wireless FM headphone. It works great for me and I don't even own a Vizio TV. Plug the base station into any sound source (I'm using the headphone jack on a Sony receiver that handles all my home theater sound) and the headphones will work great. The sound is quite good with solid base and decent mids and treble. The headphones are light enough and very comfortable. The ear cups completely cover even my big ears and the headband is adjustable. Better sound and reliability than any Bluetooth headphone setup that I've tried.
