Product Description The late, great - and ridiculously prolific - Pakistani qawwali singer had already recorded half a dozen albums for Real World when he delivered this peach in 1996. Effectively the sequel to 1990's classic Mustt Mustt, Nusrat is here reunited with the Canadian musician/producer Michael Brook and once again the partnership tests the emotional boundaries of the human voice. Timeless, state-less and, nearly two decades on, ageless. It wasn't made in Detroit or Memphis, but this truly is soul music. Review A work of great beauty ... an album for the ages, defying genre and solidifying Khan' s stature as one of the world' s pre-eminent singers. --Billboard MagazineMichael Brook is...an unmistakeably original producer who knows how to put a great vocal instrument into a stunning new context...this is a truly great record. --Folk Roots (UK)A quite sensational slow-burner of an album ... Nusrat 's incredible vocal control and gift for wending his way round an evocative melody is bolstered by Brook 's sensitive ambient, gently beat-based arrangements ... no-one deserves the extra exposure more than this peerless singer. --The Guardian

perfect marriage of modern and ancient music
perfect marriage of modern and ancient music.Brooks has seamlessly blended kuwaali music with driving grooves without obscuring the nuances of nusrats vocals.truly one of the best works of art I have ever heard(having listened to it a couple of hundred times)

Evocative of night
I've had this album for years and just wanted to get it on my phone. I've always found it extremely evocative of night. If you want great music you can't go wrong with any Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

A good showcase of Nusrat’s art
I liked it but not as much as some of his earlier works. This feels more polished, but that’s not always good.

prog goes indo-sufi
Totally cool. Pakistani treasures are hidden in millenary (3,000 - 4,000 years and much earlier) after the occupations and subsequent divorce from the area's spiritual roots.

One of 5 top albums of my life. The blending of the Qawwali Master Nusrat with Brooks is wonderful.

This first pressing on vinyl has excessive surface noise
Amazing album but this first pressing on Real World has excessive surface noise/crackle beyond what should be considered acceptable, I suggest waiting for a later repress to see if they've addressed this issue.
