I have other brand of life straws but this brand has them beat. has bug filter and backwash tool. why stock water bottles all over the house when you can drink out of the toilet with on of these for 1500 liters. Houston flood victims, they should have just given everyone a life straw to drink out of the puddles. dah

Good device but it's not sealed for long term storage
Great device but it doesn't come sealed in airtight shrinkwrap. Not sure how long the activated charcoal will stay fresh.

Great size to keep in a purse or bag
Living near a lake, I tend to like going out and hiking, camping and just generally exploring around. The water in the lake may look nice, but it's not safe to drink or even get in. There are tons of geese who call this lake home, along with ducks and if something happened, the water would be dangerous to drink. If I ever got stranded or needed to drink, I know now that I will have a safe way to drink with this straw. It's smaller than others I have tried and has some little bits that come with it, but it seems to work the same. I used some tap water because right now they are chlorinating it, and the water came out clear and fresh. I didn't smell or taste any chlorine as it came out. The straw is just the right size to fit in my purse. That way no matter where I go, exploring around the lake or the woods near by, I know I will always have a way to drink fresh water at all times.*I RECEIVED THIS PRODUCT AT A DISCOUNTED PRICE (IN ORDER TO TRY IT AND REVIEW) THIS DOES NOT GUARANTEE A GOOD REVIEW OR CHANGE MY OPINION ON THE PRODUCT, I AM HONEST AND UNBIASED, ALL OPINIONS ON IT ARE MY OWN AND BASED ON THE PRODUCT ITSELF. I HAVE TRIED THIS MYSELF AND EVALUATED IT ACCORDINGLY

Good fresh water insurance plan.
I purchased this personal water filter straw after I saw similar products on the internet. I have always though that these were a fantastic idea, whether for hiking, camping, or just preparedness for natural disaster or even the dreaded zombie apocalypse. This item had the same features and microbial prevention rating as other possibly more popular brands, but was less expensive. I like the varied modes of use. This comes well packaged. It includes instructions which is a BIG plus in my book. There is always a fear that you will order something on the internet, it will come and though you are familiar with the product, the intricacies of use elude you and you are stuck with a product that you are not sure if you are using properly. For an item such as this, which could potentially save your or the members of your family's life, knowing how to use it properly is paramount. All that to say, thanks for the instructions. It also comes with a syringe that can be used to help maintain the product (you will understand how that works specifically when you read the INCLUDED INSTRUCTIONS) While I have not had a chance to use this product, knowing that it is there and ready to use for those "just in case" moments is greatly reassuring. Its nice to know you have clean water for your family. In full disclosure, I did receive this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review. I take this process seriously and only chose to review those items for which my family or I have a real use. I hope you have found this review helpful, as I aim to guide others in wisely spending their hard earned money.

A MUST have for travelers!!!
I remember a vacation I took with my daughter to a working cattle ranch in Wyoming and had a blast, but one of the cowboys was out of commission our entire 2 week stay. He had giardia from drinking water on the mountain. He didn’t require hospitalization, but came pretty close. My son now lives in Colorado and is an avid camper and outdoorsman. The last thing he needs is a GI infection from drinking water. So, I saw this water filter and got it for him. I called him to let him know and he was so excited because one of his buddies was talking about personal water filters.I sent the filter and he was extremely excited. The filter is small enough to pack for a short trip as well as a long trip: 6 1/4 inches long by 1 1/2 inches wide and weighs about 2.5 ounces. You can use the filter to drink directly from a stream or from a bottle. The unit comes 5 additional white filter pads and a with a secondary filter that you put into the bottom of the unit. The unit comes with a syringe to flush out the unit after using it to keep it clean. I think this unit will last a long time. The paperwork says it is good for almost 400 gallons!I received this product at a discount for the purpose of testing and reviewing, but that has no bearing on my opinion. All of my comments are from my personal experience and are honest.

Small straw that comes with in-depth instructions.
I have been trying to assemble a emergency/disaster kit for a while now. I have all sorts of first aid and survival products in there. I knew I needed to add the recommended 3 gallons of water per person to last 3 days. For my hubby and I, that is 6 gallons of water, weighing about 50 pounds, which is way more than I would like to carry in an emergency. I was excited to find this filter straw. This 6 3/8 inch long by one and a quarter inch wide straw is much more manageable and bearable an addition to my kit. I love that you can attach it to a water bottle, drink from it as a regular straw or attach a water bag to it. I appreciate that this came with more intelligible instructions than others I have seen. There are four possible methods for using this, all clearly described in the instructions. It claims to filter out 99.9999% of colibacillus, legionella, and 99.99% of Giardia Lamblia, cryptosporidium, etc. I wish I had a way to confirm that. Be careful to open the flip top cover as directed. I did not and the connector broke. Overall, I am happy with this straw and am glad to add this to my disaster kit.
