This book covers a lot of ground that has previously been overlooked. The black and white photos are unique and the color plates are well done. It even includes a blurb on Luxembourg!

Interesting early war overview...Mostly light on the history, but good if you want to know about their uniforms. Worth a look.

Another great Osprey title

This fills in a gap you usually have to deal with in WWII coverage. I've got books that give you great paintings of the uniforms, but no thought to the orders of battle of these countries, and they even have Luxembourg, which you never hear about. It makes a great addition to the great body of work by Osprey.

Un tema poco tratado, con un nivel de detalle extenso pero sin perderse en tecnicismos. Muchas explicaciones sobre uniformes y unidades, ideal para recreaciones y producciones cinematográficas.

A well-detailed whistle stop tour through the highlights of some of the northern European nations swiftly occupied by Germany during the Blitzkrieg era. Only fly in the ointment was another delay experience from Amazon who once again tried to blame the carrier rather than look to their own issues with delivery to Scotland (a nation which has a government who subsidise Amazon heavily and as such we should expect equitable service!)

das Osprey-Heft ist ein typischer Vertreter der Osprey-Gattung. Die Armeen Dänemarks, Hollands, Belgiens und Norwegens werden anahnd ihrer Gleiderung kurz erklärt und der teils sehr kurze Kampfverlauf 1940 eher in Stichworten erzählt.Leider sind die Zeichnungen (oftmals der einzige kaufgrund für die Hefte) hier eher schelcht. Der neue Zeichner Johnny Shumate ist etwa sauf dem Stand eines Garry Embeltons in den 80er Jahren und nciht zu vergleichen mit einem Angus McBride, Kevin Lyles oder Ron Volstadt. Trotzdem Kaufempfehlung von mir, denn sonst gibt es eine solche Zusammenfassung der Blitzkrieg-Gegner nicht auf dem Markt.

Covering 4 countries and their involvement in WW2 in such a short book is nigh on impossible, yet Nigel Thomas who is a regular contributor to the Men-at-Arms series did it again: it's simply brilliant. I particularly appreciated the comment on Belgium's unjust treatment by the Allies after a fierce resistance to the German advance.This book is a must have for wargamers, history buffs and figure collectors.

I bought this while researching background information on the war in 1940 and for painting guides for wargame miniatures. It is a good example of the Men at Arms series and was exactly what I expected and needed. Good value.
