Should have come stock on the KSG
so...What the previous folks have said about it being "tacky" or "sticky" out of the box is definitely true. Can almost stick it to the wall. I tried dawn dishsoap and hot water....nope. i tried herbal hand soap nope....i tried dishsoap and a green scrubby pad somewhat better.I tried old hoppes no 9 gun solvent....better and mixed with the scent of herbal hand soap odd smelling. Hoppes and a green scrubby pad....much much better. Then rubbed a bit of olive oil on it and wiped it dry with a cotton rag. Good.So onward with the installation.... if your competent mechanically the included Allen wrench is all you need. Unload it...check again the it is empty and that no ammunition is in the same room or at least not on the bench or table.Field strip your shotgun...pull the butt stock off after removing the grip section. Remove the small screws that hold the butt stock assembly together. Remove old butt pad... replace with new but pad. And reverse the process for assembly. Function check it.... Its cushy without being too soft...its at least 2x if not more wider...and that makes my shoulder happier by a whole bunch. Is it better than the slip on type... definitely and still looks good too.I'm 100% happy I did this...and strongly recommend it.

Really absorbs the recoil.
When I first purchased my KSG, I ran about 5 2 3/4" 7.5 birdshot round thru it. The had a little bit of a kick to them and it actually left a bruise on my shoulder. I purchased this Extended Recoil Butt Pad and installed it in about 10 minutes. I then shot about 25 rounds thru the gun. Talk about a world of difference. The recoil was hardly noticeable. This pad is about twice the thickness of the stock pad and it is about twice as soft. No bruising on my shoulder after running 5 times as many shells thru. Then I tested some Slugs. You could feel the kick but again, no bruising. This pad definitely does what it is supposed to do.

A must have
By now you know your KSG kicks like a drunk mule. This pad significantly reduces the bone jarring recoil. Even my Itty bitty wife sees a major difference. I do recommend coupling this recoil pad with a Howitzer 70 muzzle brake.

He said that's good for it to be a little stiff
Works well. Feels stiff when compared to a soft rubber after market ones that just slips on the back of a shot gun. My brother is in law enforcement and teaches firearms. He said that's good for it to be a little stiff. The material is tacky/ sticky which seems weird. It's a factory butt pad extension, which means it fits perfectly and looks great. The after market one I bought slips around and doesnt stay in place. For this one, you have to take the back end apart to get on the KSG. See your owner's manual for instructions. It wasnt difficult, but took a few mins to do.

Just enough to soften the recoil
Easy install, great illustrations. Pad is just the right amount to soften the recoil and not be mushy.

Great!!!
Should have come on the ksg from the jump. It is the difference between an enjoyable day at the range and a sore sholder

Good product.
I installed the recoil pad last night, I shot the KSG today. The difference is like night and day. Last week I shot 25 rounds through it with the stock pad. I had a bruise. Today I shot 50 rounds through it with the new recoil pad, my shoulder feels fine.Be careful when disassembling the butt stock. The stock support might fly out. Be careful when reassembling, make sure you install it with the support where it clears the bolt.

Should have been stock for the KSG
Product is an exact match for the stock buttpad, though with an additional +/- inch of padding. I advise rubbing it with mineral oil to remove the ‘sticky’ feel. Fits perfect. Color matches. Most importantly, reduces recoil and bruising just like I wanted.
