If you are using this as a standalone, I would probably toss a rubber band around it just to be safe. I put nuts and fruit/veggies and maybe cheese or crackers and it has served me really well so far. It is NOT however, intended to hold soups or leaky items. I've used products from LunchBots for 16 years, but they have gotten very expensive. The Bits Kits Stainless Steel Bento Box Lunch ($11.69) was nearly half the price of the LunchBots ($18.89) for a similar product. The Bits Kits lids don't feel like they snap on as tightly as LunchBots, but they are fine for things like sandwiches, carrots, apple slices, chips, etc. The size is perfect for a sandwich with any bread type, they clean up easy with soap and water, and will last until my kids are out of school.
