great for a traveling athlete
I am constantly traveling to competitions, and don't have the luxury of having re-usable ice packs at my disposal in the hotel room or right after a competition. With this simple device, its easy to get ice out of a cooler or at the hotel. Plus, its very small and can fit in just about any bag.My only issue with it is that it has started to leak a bit, as some of the fabric has come out of the ring that holds the tight seal with the cap. Probably due to me stuffing it full of too much ice. Otherwise, very durable, and I highly recommend it to anyone traveling and doesn't have re-freezable ice packs on hand.-------------The fabric completely came out of the seal, and caused the bag to leak too much so I had to stop using it. Instead of just a crimped seal, they should have reinforced it with some sort of glue to prevent the fabric from potentially pulling out. Wish there was a way to buy a new ice bag, instead of buying the whole thing again.

Does exactly what it says on the tin
I have tendinitis in my left shoulder and my doctors have told me to put ice on it. I have basically made slings with my pashminas and put ice on the shoulder, having it slip and slide. So I decided to get a proper wrap. I landed on these. There were some negative comments, but I decided to try this first. It looked weird when it came out of the box. I turned it around a few times, and quickly found out that the ice bag is just that, a bag to put ice cubes in. I don't have ice cubes at home, and don't have the patience to make, nor the space for a purchased bag, so this was a bummer. I pulled that off immediately. I had also read that it was difficult to put on with one arm, so I was a bit sceptical. It turned out to be much easier than I thought.I first fit it around the arm. It's a bit silly put together, so I have bulges here and there, but that's OK, they are just cosmetic. I found that if I put that together first, then slid it up my arm I could get it all the way to the armpit. The strap to go around the body is elastic, so I grab the strap that goes around my back with my right arm and just pull it over my head and slide it down the back, then I push my back against the chair or wall to keep it in place. I then take the breast strap and pull it to the back strap. It uses Velcro to keep it in place, so it is easy enough to get it to stick. Then I slide an ice pack in between the brace and my shoulder and then I could go about my business. It works well, and gives me pressure and cooling at the same time. I use it several times a day, and hopefully it will be of help long term to get rid of my tendinitis.

fair. not perfect solution -- better than others I have tried..
Update: this is a pia to ut on by yourself. I like it but would not buy it again, returned mine. Co really needs to work on making it easier for one person to put on.PRO: big ice pack that helps, high quality materialsCON: putting it on by yourselfI just got this, working with a Physical therapist who told me to ice my shoulder after swimming and working out. Like others say, it is awkward to put on by yourself. I am going to try attaching an additional piece of velcro or something to make it longer, and update when I do. it provides ice on the spot and it holds the ice against the shoulder - gives some "weight or compression" against the site. Glad I got it and would buy again.

Works OK, but not great
Been using this for a few months now (rotator cuff), and here is what I think:1. Takes practise to put on, but it can be done. I had to lean my shoulder against a wall for awhile to hold the bag in place while I was fooling with the straps.2. The back and chest straps are way too long, unless you are the Hulk, in which case they fit perfectly. Plus there is way too much Velcro on the straps and they stick in each other like crazy while they are flapping around. I wound up putting duct tape around much of the Velcro and that improved things.3. The ice bag works good; I have it filled with those plastic enclosed water things (bought from Amazon) that look like ice cubes. Works really well - I just put the whole ice bag in the freezer after use and they freeze up right in the bag. Beats ice cubes and dumping out the melted ice.4. Yeah, the bicep strap is too small, even for me (5'6", 145). You could probably get a piece of Velcro strap and add to the existing Velcro and cut to size.5. It's a decent product, and with a little self tweaking, it will work good.

Hate giving 5star reviews but this one is deserved.
I purchased this wrap in 2011 and have used it on and off fairly abusively. The harness remains working perfectly. The ice bag just punctured - after 3 years. That's a well built product. I just ordered a replacement bag.Pros:* The included ice bag is on of the best quality ice bags I've used: - It's dual layer, so you don't need to put a piece of cloth between it and your skin before applying. - Gets cold, stays cold. - It has the biggest mouth opening I've ever seen on an ice bag (over 3" diameter"). - The bag itself is big (11" diameter, I'd estimate 2 quart max capacity [you should never fill it this much), - It just feels thick and heavy duty compared to most other bags.* The harness is does exactly what it's supposed to: - Operates on both right and left shoulders equally well. - Can be put on reasonably with one arm (do yourself a favor and check the recommended instructions: [...]) - The velcro, elastic and neoprene all feel heavy duty and built to last. - It's actually (gasp!) decent looking when put on. It has a pleasant aesthetic which wasn't expected, but is appreciated.CONS:* Price: You're paying for the quality.THINGS TO CONSIDER:* You need to really evaluate your access to ice before purchasing. This bad boy can take two large ice cube trays, so trays will get annoying in a post-surgical type scenario where you're icing every hour or so. Ice makers are preferred.POTENTIAL FUTURE PRODUCT IMPROVEMENTS:* I'd really like to see a standalone gel pack sold fitted to this harness so customers can choose whether to go with the ice or gel on the fly. I do a lot of travelling and depending on where I am, either ice or refrigeration is sometimes more commonly available than the other.
