While away on vacation our pet sitter called and said that the temp in our house was 90 degrees when he stopped in to feed the pets. Turns out the air conditioner quit working and it was going to be another week before we got home. The pet sitter was kind enough to let the air conditioner guy in the next day to repair the ac. We got one of these to monitor the house temp while away. It will tell you the current temperature in the SimpliSafe app and you can set it to alarm at a high and low temperature of your choosing.

Our house got broken into last year on Halloween while I was home. Someone came in through the back gate and was able to get the back door open. I worked nights and slept during the day and the dogs scared them as I think they thought nobody was home. I wanted something easy to install to keep our house safe and purchased multiple cameras, sensors, and alarms. This was perfect for me to set up and feel safer in our home. Then I realized I could have multiple purposes and it could help keep my dogs safe! We have the garage turned into a large room with furniture, dog beds, heaters, and air conditioners for the dogs while we are gone but always had a fear that the temperature would get too hot or too cold, or a fire would start while we were gone and unable to help the pups. I was able to purchase a temperature sensor to keep in there to notify me of the temp reached over or under a certain amount, and several fire sensors to put up throughout the house to get immediate help in case of a fire when we are not home. This has given me so much peace of mind and so many ways. I am so happy I have purchased this system!!

They're temp sensors. They measure and report temperature. They work just fine.SimpliSafe is missing out on a great market opportunity with these sensors. I bought a couple extra to see if I could use them as refrigerator and freezer sensors. With lithium batteries, they measure temperatures just fine in both the fridge and deep freezer and there didn't seem to be any problem transmitting the WiFi signal through the metal skin to my router approximately 40 feet away.It works quite well in the fridge and I've got that one in operation. However, the temp sensor is unusable in the freezer because of the limitations of the SimpliSafe app. The app prevents setting the lower temperature boundary below 1° F. Since most deep freezers are set at or below that, I got constant alarms.With a simple programming change to the app, many customers could use these as freezer sensors. Of course, your mileage may vary depending on whether the WiFi signal could get through any particular fridge or freezer shell.
