Slightly disappointed
I was excited to love this book, and especially love that the title of the book refers to the whales as orcas. The inside is a different story as they refer to the whales as “killer whales”. I would much rather the author had used the proper term instead of their nickname.

Dream Big!
This book supports the idea to follow your dream even when others do not encourage it. So well written. My children loved it years ago - and now my grandson at age 4 does too.

Davy's Dream
I purchased a beautiful greeting card in Sitka, AK with a boy in a boat floating among Orcas. I love telling my grandson stories based on pictures. I was so happy when I got home and turned the card over to find that there was already a book and this was just one of the illustrations. I ordered 2 books and love the beautiful story and even the pages that just have illustrations and no words needs. Lovely.Well done and definately a classic.

Enjoyable
I bought this for my son's sixth birthday after we had enjoyed another of this author's stories for a couple of years. We enjoy the illustrations and the writing is simple and insightful. We love that Davy has a dream and makes it come true by using his own ideas and creativity. He has quite an adventure with these orcas who spend a day enjoying their new friend and ultimately save him. A sweet, relaxing bedtime tale.

Great Story
This is a great story. I love stories about kids that solve their own challenges and look outside of the box for solutions.

Magical illustrations and a great choice for encouraging independent reading
Wow. The pictures in this are just beautiful. We have four Paul Owen Lewis books and I personally feel this is the best illustrated. This is quite a grown-up story but told in very simple way with simple straight forward language. Owen Lewis lets the illustrations, and therefore the child's imagination, do a lot of the work of telling the story.I bought this for my 6-nearly-7 year old son who is dyslexic. It was perfect. It is grown-up enough that he didn't feel at all patronised, but the beautiful illustrations, short paragraphs and simple clear language meant he wasn't at all intimidated. If you are looking for a book that will challenge emotionally and imaginatively, but doesn't challenge in terms of reading level Paul Owen Lewis' are a perfect option. It's a great one for encouraging independent reading and Davy's Dream is probably my favourite of his works.
