Game-changing snorkel for kids
After a friend's raving recommendation, we purchased this mask for our kids (ages 3 and 6) to use during a trip to the Caribbean. It was a huge hit, and I really can't recommend it highly enough, especially for kids. Here's our experience:My 6yo is a confident swimmer who knows how to use a regular snorkel mask, but was thrilled to be able to breathe through her nose and avoid dealing with multiple pieces of gear. Bonus: no mouthpiece to interfere with her retainers, would be a similar plus for kids with braces. Only problem came when she looked too far down and accidentally (unexpectedly) triggered the dive/auto-close mechanism - just a learning curve issue, after a quick discussion she learned how to position her head to avoid the problem. Given a bit more time she'd probably be diving with the mask.My 3yo is a hesitant beginning swimmer who doesn't like to put his face under water, even with goggles, but once he figured out this mask gave him a bubble to breathe in under water, he was surprisingly comfortable. I kept him in a PFD, and he clung to my shoulder while peeking all around and squealing with glee. I kept an eye on his head position after the experience with his sister, but he was riding so high (and had no interest in diving) so it wasn't a problem. See pictures.Sizing: I expect the XS will be the right size for my (tall but slender) kids through age 8-10; the S/M was slightly too large for my 6yo despite the wide gasket. Another 5yo friend with an exceptionally narrow face was too small for the XS, so YMMV. As an adult I wore the S/M comfortably, and my husband wore the L/XL. Note that while the S/M and M/L are the same size faceplate with different internal gaskets, the XS is actually scaled down across the board.Other notes: the auto-close mechanism worked perfectly. You never have to clear a snorkel again, just dive without thinking. The field of view on these masks is much wider than a traditional mask or goggles. Even if you pick up a bit of water in the mask, it stays out of your eyes/nose and easily drains out the chin valve when you pop up to tread water. The strap adjustments are easy even while under water, and the gasket distributes force around your face relatively evenly so you don't get weird hickeys or sore spots, though after 3 hours of near-continuous snorkeling I was looking forward to taking it off.My only complaint is that I can't swim at speed, because the mask limits the amount of air you can exchange with each breath, and strong kicking/vigorous armstrokes/both burn more O2 than I can take in. (Again YMMV - I used to swim competitively so probably draw more power/require more air than a more casual swimmer.) This is for moderately-paced recreational use such as viewing fish in the ocean, not vigorous lap swimming. That caveat aside, this is a phenomenal mask and a real improvement in snorkel technology. Great for adults, but AMAZING for kids.

SO glad I found this
SO glad I found this! We recently took a trip where we knew we'd want to snorkel. We have 2 young children (2 and 5). We bought this for our 5 year old in hopes that she would snorkel with us. Initially we were looking at traditional snorkel gear but we knew that there was a good possibility she wouldn't remember to not breathe through her nose and would fog up her mask. We found this in our search and decided to try it out and we are now planning on buying a second for next year for our younger child. The fit was great (we did manage to get a little water in the mask but that was due to her removing this from her head 60 times). She got the hang of snorkeling right away and was so excited that she could talk with her mask on, even underwater. She had a good view of things around her and the sides of the mask didn't seem to affect her at all. She used this multiple times on the trip, even in the pool. I would highly recommend this mask, even at it's current price (almost 80.00). It was worth every penny!

If you can afford it, do it!
Bought this for my 3.5yr old daughter and she loves it. I got the xs and though it took a little while to get a good seal, once on she didn't want to take it off. The way it is designed means she is more bouyant and she doesn't get any water in her mouth, nose, or eyes. If the top of the snorkel dips under water the water drains out once she pops up. It either drains out from the top of the snorkel or from the valve at the bottom of the mask. It really is genius. Daughter loves it so much she is determined to teach herself how to swim. As great as it is, i do think it was a little pricey, that was the only downside. Works great but very expensive.

The mask design is curved in on the two sides ...
The mask design is curved in on the two sides, but the plastic suction on the side does not stick out. To seal the mask, I push it towards my face and tighten the straps, but the actual hard part of the side is push towards my face so it hurts and does not seal properly. If you have a wide face, this is not for you.

Absolutely Amazing
Got these for our recent trip to Hawaii and they are Absolutely amazing! I am claustrophobic and have TMJ and had no issues at all. These work so well you forget how long you have been in the water face down. I had more people coming up to me asking about the masks. They traveled in our suitcases without a problem.
