Torrans CO Skylark Red Retro Styled Metal Lawn Chair

Torrans has been around since 1850. True, these chairs are now made in China, but the quality is there. These are sturdy chairs, with quality powder coating. They also have plastic bumper pads on the bottom. I will agree with the above review in that the instructions are sparse, and could possibly do with a few more photos. (much more true with the glider, which is a bit more complicated an endeavor. Especially if one were to only use the included tools.) I don't think that one would be able to tighten all of the fasteners to a degree that would render the chair sturdy. Out of laziness, I attempted to use the included tools for the assembly of the first of the two chairs I ordered, before going to the basement to get my allen driver, wrench and socket set. Not only did this result in a much faster assembly, and less cursing, I know nothing will come loose any time soon.I was a bit skeptical before ordering these, as many companies are now taking advantage of nostalgia and producing very inferior products that LOOK like the vintage items that people want, but are over-priced and shoddy. The price of this chair is a bit more than similar chairs on the market (and available from Amazon) and there are very few reviews for this item. As someone who may lend a bit too much credence to Amazon reviews, I nearly passed this chair up. I am certainly glad I did not. I have faith that these should last just as long as the ones my relatives have had from well before my time. As a bonus, these are not yet rusty.There was a piece missing from the glider, but with one email to the company, everything was sorted, and a replacement was sent to me. Very courteous, and easy.I will certainly update this review if there are any issues in the future.

2/11/2013,THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE WORSE CHAIR TO ASSEMBLE BY YOURSELF. THE INSTRUCTION BOOK IS HORRIBLE. THE CHAIR ASSEMBLY IS 1,000 PERCENT AWKWARD. NOT WORTH THE MONEY OR YOUR TIME. PLEASE, PLEASE, DONOT BUY. THIS IS AN INFERIOR PRODUCT MADE IN CHINA. IT IS ABSOLUTELY A NIGHTMARE!!!! DONOT PURCHASE!!!!!!

I sat in one of these chairs today and could not get myself to buy it, however, I may go back and get it. I can assure you that it is not as heavy as the original. I'm 227 pounds and the seat made a popping noise and flexed. They can't possibly be as heavy of a gauge as the original.

reminds me of sippin tea on the front porch of my grandparents. The chairs are a little stiff but I imagine that will change once we break them in. love the color! the folks that complained that the instructions are vague are spot on. pay attention to a couple of the reviews, they explain how the chairs need to go together and it was a great help to me when I was putting these together.

Received two chairs a month ago. This morning a large piece of the powder coating came off the top of the bottom section of one chair. There was some slight rust under the powder coating. Have notified Amazon and will update this review when they have answered.These are heavy duty chairs and are built sturdy. Other than the powder coat popping off I like the chairs. Expensive, but worth it.UPDATE: Amazon has allowed a partial refund that will cover having the chair bottom painted locally. I am very satisfied with Amazon.

We purchased this chair as a gift for a friend. It is extremely sturdy and a lovely deep shiny red color. We were extremely pleased with the quality of the chair, the timely shipment and the durable packaging that was used to protect it during shipment. We highly recommend this product!

Unlike the glider, this chair was easy to assemble and everything fit well. The tools they sent are adequate but it's easier with a socket set.
