Yuki hasn't stepped out of her one-room apartment for five years now and the place is piling high with garbage and clutter. Keiji has a "hidden" camera set in her room connected to the internet 24 hours a day. He drops by to sleep with her in front of the camera, and to pay her for what he earns through Yuki's members-only website.All Yuki does is eat, sleep and watch TV. Then one day a counselor, sent by her mother, enters the room and tells her that watching TV all day will ruin her. He strikes up a deal with Yuki to make her take one step out of her room.

Thought provoking and challanging to the end!
A thinking person's movie. Requires attention and a sense of humor. Slow paced which helps make the funny bits jump out. Seemingly fraught with childlike depression, with the fear of stepping outside, the actress is great in bringing you into her endless abyss of a roomful of garbage and the men that interrupt her daily routine of sleep and TV and her pet goldfish.With that in mind let the movie take you with it through her journey. For me, it was worth watching.

Incredibly monotonous
Erotically charged???? What part of this slow, boring, nothing-but-a-slob-of-a-woman-lying-in-bed-all-day, waste of time was erotically charged?How anyone can give this film 3 or more stars, yet alone find it interesting, is beyond me. There are some real HARD CORE film buffs out here, I rekon. :p

Perplexing Movie
I don't really know what to say about this movie, I almost stopped watching several times, but I am glad I made it to the end. Which is not a really happy ending (I think). This girl has some real issues to deal with, but refuses to see the world in which she is surrounded by. I watched with closed captions, so maybe somethings were lost in the translation. I dunno know. She had a couple of "friends" sorta, both seemed to use her for sex and not much else, and she seemed OK with that. Maybe that is the way it is. It is interesting in a different kind of way, probably worth watching, but be patient. You have to go the the end.

A stylistically Japanese drama
A very Japanese movie. I can see how this might be puzzling for Americans. A very good movie for me, however. I loved the social worker. Persistently, he pushes his point and then apologizes, pushes then apologizes. It is a very Japanese behavior. It is a sincere wish not to offend or harm and is honest and refreshing to the shut-in, compared to the young men that are his competition.
