Only able to screw in one side. The thread is shady so you have to have it screwed in halfway in order for it not be pulled back out. Maybe if the screws were longer it’d be better. Seems to hold with one screw cranked tight.

This hose repair kit came with extra screws and washers. Would be easier to install if the screws were slightly longer. Appears to do the repair as expected and saves a good hose from the trash.

I've used a male and female and when I tried to tighten the screw on the female the threads stripped on one side. I was repairing a 5/8" hose.

I have had a lot of different Replacement hose ends over the years. No one wants to throw out an expensive garden hose because a crushed end or leak near the fitting--but frankly most style repair parts are pretty useless. When I found my first one of these many years ago I immediately realized it was a winner. They are easy to install:-Cut the end of the hose so it is square and good material-Insert the barbed end (make sure to use the correct one, whether male or female) *NOTE you may need to gently warm the hose to get it all the way in but a heat gun or hair dryer will do this quickly as it does not take much-Loosen the screws on the two clamp halves and place them over the area of the hose where the barb is-tighten evenly so that clamp applies even pressure-Place a rubber washer into the new fitting and you are ready to go.These ends, unless damaged, will likely outlast the hose they are on. I needed more only because the ones I have used are still in service! While you can buy individual ends, I decided to get a better deal and have extras on hand. For the money and quality these are hands down the best hose ends you will find.

I had a lot of difficulty using these on my "commercial" grade hoses from Sam's Club. Even heating the hose to soften it, didn't help much. Then the screws strip out in the aluminum fittings. I was not happy with this purchase.

Have used a couple of these. Sometimes they work amazing, even with high pressure in hose. Other times they leak. Maybe install error, but they seem to be hit or miss.

A little tough to install in ⅝ inch hose, but a little silicone spray helps a lot. Otherwise, these fittings are really great. Unless you are very careful, most plastic fittings cross thread after awhile especially when joining to a metal fitting. Since these fittings are all metal, this problem is eliminated. Worth the extra price.
