I purchased them because they are easy to adjust the size of the salt or pepper. I do a lot of grilling on my charcoal grill and I like to marinate with coarser salt and pepper. I can then easily adjust them back to a finer grain for normal table use. I am quite happy with my purchase.

I have a set of these, one being used for Himalayan rock salt, one with pepper corns. For a while both worked fine and I have little complaint except perhaps that it is very hard to adjust to getting finely ground pepper. Even though these have seen very moderate use, and no abuse, today the pepper one failed to operate. Inspection shows internally that one of three "ribs" above the grinding portion had broken off from the main axle (this is a plastic part). The ribs are necessary to force the pepper corns down into the screw-like part that then feeds them into the grinder. The broken rib now no longer allows this to happen, and no pepper corns enter the mechanism. This not repairable, but possibly replaceable. All of this happened over a two year period in which the reservoir was perhaps (re)filled 4 times. That seems way too soon for a failure.The description says "made of glass and stainless steel". Well that turns out to be true on the outside only. Cheap plastic inside appears to be the weak point here and has now rendered the device useless.Two stars because there was some value on the salt side, although if I had known that I would have rather bought a single one.

They do not grind peppercorns. One of them will slightly grind if you turn it 10 or 15 times, then you will get a little bit a very course ground pepper out, the other one basically does not work at all.

I love these jars because it holds a good amount of sea salt and pepper. The main reason I purchased this brand is because the opening is covered with a top to prevent spilling on the countertop.

This salt and pepper grinding set performs exactly as described and was delivered in a timely manner. I am completely satisfied with this purchase.

Love these and they work like a dream! A great gift to someone if not for yourself!
