Holy crap! It works! I learned how to knit in an hour!
Okay, I was a true non-believer. I had tried to learn how to knit several times. I am an art teacher, I'm educated, I have patience, and I could never get it down! So when I saw this, and they claim I could learn in an hour?! Well, I took that bet.Lo' and behold! I sat down at 3 today and was hooked, and successful, by 4. I think the difference from other times I have tried is that they really were super basic. They would start to throw knitting lingo out there, but would then say to not worry about that yet! The pictures helped, but it was obvious in the instructions that they were printed into booklet form from a scrolling web page. But, alas, I still learned how to knit. Well, I learned the knot stitch, the purl, and how to bind: the absolute basics. Now that I know these basics, though, it makes me want to explore more into the knitting world.I have to say, too, that the 4 little balls of yarn they give you are so soft and a really nice blend of colors, that I want to try to learn how to change colors and make a striped scarf with them!I'm feeling confident, now, that I can start to learn more from what I learned in an hour with this kit. I got what I wanted, for sure!In full disclosure, I received a discount on this product for an honest review. I take my product tests and reviews seriously, and I am super pleased and fully endorse this kit!

False Advertising
My husband purchased this for me as a gift and we were quite disappointed. It is highly overpriced at $35 for 4.0 bamboo needles that retail at $5 or less and the amount of yarn provided is absurdly small...possibly $1 worth of yarn. Keep in mind that this is retail so the kit is worth $3-5. In order to learn something you need detailed instructions, however that is not what is provided; if so, the value would have been justifiable. I could have gone to Michaels and bought the supplies for far less and googled how to knit. I found several sites that are far better to learn from and would not recommend this product.

The small balls of yarn are nice as are the needles
I originally gave this a 2 stars because their website was down and I didn't have access to the video's. I had trouble with just the pamphlet and had to watch a you tube video to get started. Since then, the website has come back up and being able to watch the videos has made all the difference in the world. It is a much easier technique. I would now give it 5 stars except it was very very frustrating trying to figure it all out without the website.

She's getting better at it everyday
Bought this for my daughter, and she is slowly learning to knit. She's getting better at it everyday. This is a great product from a great seller. I'm overly impressed with this product. I enjoyed testing out this product. This is a product that I'd gladly purchase again. I am a satisfied happy customer. I was given the opportunity to purchase this product at a discounted price in exchange for my unbiased review.

Very, very basic.
In many ways, this is a decent set up for a starter kit. It is definitely intended for beginners. The needles included are bamboo (nice!), and US size 6, which is a good size to have on hand, and a good fit for the included yarn. The yarn included has a nice feel. I didn't find anyplace that said what the fiber is, but it feels like a good quality acrylic to these hands. The colors I received are *not* identical as the ones in the listing pictures -- it's okay, they are all complementary, so it's all good. I weighed each skein of yarn - each weighed less than one ounce, so total in this kit, I received more than 3.5 ounces of yarn, but less than 4 ounces. You may need scissors - at some point, particularly when I change colors or finish a piece, I find I often want scissors. I prefer to weave in the ends of yarn, but sometimes the ends are a bit on the long side. Scissors are not included. Typically, they aren't in sewing kits, but this is a beginner kit, and beginners may not realize this. There is also a 30 page instruction booklet. It provides a few things, including the basics of casting on (starting), knit stitches, purl stitches, and casting off (ending so there are no loose or unfinished stitches). BUT - -what it does not contain are any patterns or, well, direction. Not directionS, but direction. No patterns to make something, or guidance how to decide what makes a scarf or a coaster or a blanket. This will be obvious to SOME people, but not all. I've been working with a group of young people who want to learn to knit, and these questions do come up.BUT -- the booklet *also* contains a card telling the reader to visit a website where they can download an ebook and view videos. This is key -- most people I've met have learned to knit from watching others - in person or through videos. And I suspected that, perhaps, the ideas I felt were missing in the booklet would be in the eBook and videos. So, it was REALLY disappointing to get to the website and find that it's not up! Oh, there's a website up and live there, but it's full of demo blog posts -- image posts, quote posts, audio posts, affiliate marketing posts. Outside of the domain (which I triple checked) there isn't a word about knitting. Having examined the contents of the kit, I really feel the website is the key that brings - or SHOULD bring - it all together, especially for those who are like the young people in the group I work with. I hope the merchant gets the website functioning soon.I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest review. Any opinion expressed is mine alone.

Perfect for my niece
This made for an amazing gift! My 6 year old niece loves to do anything that has to do with arts and crafts. I gave this to her as a gift and she immediately wanted to give it a try. It came with the yarn, wooden needles and the instructions. It was super easy to follow and she was able to put a couple stitches together. She's still practicing and can't wait until she is able to make a blanket!I received this item at a discount in exchange for an honest review.

Difficult for lefties
Well, it's going to take me longer than an hour to learn to knit. I'm left handed & am struggling to make this work for me. I finally gave it to my daughter. She is learning the steps & then is visually showing me so that I can try & adapt to it. The set is very nice. The instructions are clear, if you're right handed. I think it would make a nice gift. I'm not giving up, but definitely frustrated. My daughter, however is discovering a new hobby.
