you gotta have RAM
Managing an airport is cool and this game is a blast. The one negative is the 1000 item max imposed in the current version. This requires you to lay roads in the longest strips possible and to watch items you should be able to add. Eventually, you will have millions of dollars and no way to spend them...I major draw back. But, getting the airport up and running and competing with other airports throughout the world is a blast.

Lack of Item Information
The game would not work on my computer. Amazon needs to put more information of software that is for sale because not every program works with every computer. All of the system requirements need to be posted to allow the customer to make sure that the software with operate on their system and to prevent irritated customers.

this game [stinks]
well i am a big fan of tycoon games but this one really bites the dust. Now i think it is a really great concept and i dont mind the graphics. All the buildings are pretty cool but there is one problem. One of the things that i like most about tycoon games is to watch the people in the game. Well in this game the people dont do anything and it gets boring to play, in fact its depressing. There is no noise and sound, its boring to watch and even more boring to play. If you want a good tycoon game, one that i think is much better is airline tycoon. It is the same concept but a much better game. Take my advice and dont waste your money on this game

Not Bad, Too Bad the Sequals Failed
I bought this game from a discount bin ten years ago. It didn't work correctly on my Win-98 computer at that time so I shelved it. Recently I installed it on my WIN-XP SP3 computer and it runs quite well.Graphics: I have to use software emulation for the graphics rather than hardware mode. Full screen mode really is full screen but is terribly laggy. Windowed mode is a smaller display which looks fine and runs well. It is not a true window, though. If you try to access anything else the "window" minimizes to the taskbar. This means that, while you can read some of your electronic notes while playing, you can't add to them with the game visible, nor can you scroll to a different place in the notes.Sound: The music volume adjustment does not work, nor can you turn it off. The sound effects adjustment does work, oddly. The music isn't bad, but it would be nice to be able to hear the sound effects without them being drowned out by the very loud music. Also, the music gets a bit repetitive after the first two or three hours.Operational: The game has no pause button. If you need to take a break for any reason, you have to go to the quit game screen and leave it where it asks you to respond "yes" or "no" to quitting, then say "no" when you return from your break.Documentation: The game tutorial is a joke. It is a movie of someone playing who didn't even know that you have to start time running to be able to build a control tower. This information is given in one of the two extremely skimpy manuals. In other particulars the manuals are not always accurate. There is better documentation on the web in the form of a FAQ.I am really enjoying designing the airport layout and the internal layout of the custom terminals. I understand that the latter feature was removed from versions 2 and 3 of this game, which I think was a total mistake. I will never buy those versions. Of the two scenarios, I found the first one to be really difficult but I enjoyed the second one. Starting my own airports, I have found the differences between the locations to be critical to success at moving cargo or passengers. If you make a lot of layout changes at once, you need to give the game a little time to catch up. If it seems really stubbornly stuck, if for instance it is insisting that there is a door someplace where there is none now, save the game and reload it. This seems to straighten out the problems. The best way to avoid them is to give the game a moment or two to catch up with your building or destroying.Unlike some people who have posted reviews here, I had no problems removing terminals or runways. My version is called Air Mogul when it runs, even though the manual and CD are entitled Airport Tycoon. There may be a difference in versions involved. If you poke around in the data files, you will find that the game was designed with real airplane models but that the company names have two versions: the original, and a replacement which is the one displayed. This was presumably done to avoid trademark issues. The model numbers were kept the same, so I was able to look up some of the aircraft on the web and I learned a lot. I also noticed that the file extensions corresponded to a programming project management utility for Linux. This may explain why the program doesn't run as nicely on a Windows machine as one might expect. It may have originally been programmed for Linux machines.

Addictive
This is a very addictive little game. The biggest challenge is to learn how to generate money with your airport. And, i found that a bit difficult to work out, but after that it is fairly easy, and you will have an over-sized, elaborate airport of your very own in no time at all. If you enjoy tycoon games, then you will probably like this one. I would have rated it higher, but once you figure the economics out, it is a bit too easy.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE WIN 98
I have bought 2 of these and as the title says I have twice to get this to work on WIN XP will not work. Unless you can find a 32 bit version of this game which is highly unlikely. This game is a 16 bit game and nothing you do will change that

Buy at your own risk!
A very good idea for a game. There's a lot of room for improvement, different ways to play the game, etc. Nothing will ever be the same. Unfortunately, it's very predictable. It's quite capitalistic-like, but too extreme. The game starts off by giving you NO business so you're in the red. This can be overcome by little initial spending. Soon after this turn for the worse - business is booming! Contracts coming from all over the place. THEN...you experience a drought that is impossible to overcome with NO explanation. This has happened to me multiple times with no remedy.
