Deluxe Mesh Drafting Chair

My daughter is tall and wanted a chair that was high enough for her drafting table. This chair is comfortable and provides both back and neck support. This is a relief since she used to complain about her back hurting every time she sat at her desk; especially for a long period of time. It has been over 8 months since we've bought this chair. My daughter still raves about her chair and is very satisfied with the purchase.

This is about the Harwick Deluxe Mesh Drafting Chair. I’ve had it about a month before giving my impressions. I got the chair primarily for its height adjustment range as I made a desk higher than a conventional office desk, but lower than a drafting table, so I needed a height adjustable task chair with this one’s low range height adjustment (most drafting chairs start higher and all task chairs I could find are not high enough). This chair provides me the height range adjustment that I needed, is mesh backed with a fabric cushion seat, has comfortable adjustable arms, an adjustable resistance inclining back, good adjustable foot rest ring (but with minor surface rust spotted chrome) and the usual plastic casters that work but I wish were better. The metal base is substantial. The headrest is another feature that I enjoy. Some chairs also have a tilt-adjustable seat, but this one doesn’t – instead it is a waterfall shape that has merit, but not all the capability that a tilt adjustment would have, notably in conjunction with the adjustable back..The documentation that comes with the seat is lacking. The instructions are useless if you are not mechanically inclined. No typical invoice, shipping memo or warranty sheet was included in the shipment. When I contacted the vendor who is also the distributor, they managed to email a warranty terms sheet for the 10-year limited warranty. Disappointingly the warranty sheet has no identifying information of who the warranty is from, no telephone number or address to contact in the event of a warranty issue. The assembly instruction sheet does show a long distance number to call for technical or parts assistance, which turns out to be the vendor/distributor who verbally says that they service the warranty.For a $299 chair it meets most of my needs, but falls short in some adjustment capability and woefully short on important documentation. I would give it 4 stars for what it is, but at a lesser price and without the documentation demerits..

This chair was no good from the start. Maybe this was a one off deal, but combine that with the bad customer service by Mike Harley at Office Chairs Unlimited, this chair has been a dog. First it was the foot rest that kept sliding down. When I inquired about this not long after I received the chair, they said it wasn't to stand on or for excessive weight. That's not what it was.Today...the arm broke off. In all my years of working, I've never had a chair's arm fall off. this chair is only 9 months old. So, when I inquired about a return, Mike Harley replied:"If the seat pan broke, that happened from putting excessive weight on the armrest. The arm didn't just break off on it's own. The armrests are designed for resting your arms only."What have I been using the arm rests for? Standing on? A step stool? I'm under 200pds and I've been using the chair as a chair...no surprises here, but according to Mike, user error.Don't buy this chair and don't buy it from Mike. He won't help when things go south. Now he wants me to spend another $80 on this $300 chair that is less than a year old... The answer is no.Looking for a new chair.

Toke three replacements of the pneumatic shaft before I got a working one. After that waited a while for the review. Lumber support is ineffective now and the shaft as failed again. Save your money and get a better constructed one.

I've been using this chair for around a month or two now, and I still have mixed feelings for it. The chair itself is insanely comfortable. It's designed really well, very easy to sit in, and the seat cushion is really comfortable to sit on for very long periods of time. Some days I spend my entire day at my desk and in this chair, and It keeps me comfortable for hours upon hours. I do have 3 reasons for not rating it perfect.1) The arm rests are barely adjustable, and a bit wobbly. I usually always have my arms on my desk itself, so this doesn't bother me too much, but when I do use the arm rests, they feel very loose (even though they are fully tightened onto the chair). If you use the arm rests a lot on your chair, I'm not sure how much you will like these arm rests. They look and feel very cheap for the price. However, on a brighter note, they are comfortable and they shape to your arm very well.2) When I received the item, it was packaged terribly. The box was inside of another shipping box the EXACT same size. I could barely get the box out because of the snug fit. This isn't really that big of a deal, but what really bothered me is the extreme lack of instructions. I barely knew what to do because all they give you is a a paper with a couple pictures. Basically, they give you a few screws and parts and say "figure it out". Very disappointing. Luckily, I was able to get it put together with only a couple concerns, but I was worried about my first time sitting on it because I couldn't be SURE I did everything right.3) The foot ring. This is definitely the biggest drawback for me. I am a very tall individual, which is why I needed this tall chair along with a tall desk. I absolutely love the idea of having a foot ring because I am very tall, and it's hard for me to rest my feet on anything comfortably. When I built the chair, I had the foot ring exactly where I wanted it, and I was very happy and comfortable. However, a couple hours later, the ring was all the way at the bottom of the chair.The ring will simply not stay up. I've tried raising it and tightening it as much as I possibly could. I even used some extreme tools to get it as tight as it would possibly go, but the ring just keeps falling within hours. It's not fun having to get on my hands and knees every few hours to raise this thing, and it would be a nightmare for anyone not using the chair for a personal home office. I'm going to find a makeshift way of keeping the ring up.All in all it is a very comfortable and nice chair, but I'm not sure it's worth $300, especially if you are looking for amazing quality. If the above problems won't/don't bother you, you will fall in love with this chair.UPDATE: About 6 months into using this chair, I've started having this issue where the chair will slowly decline as if the hydraulics are defective. I thought maybe it was a temporary problem, but this issue has been consistent for about a month or so now. It's very annoying and frustrating, as the chair will only stay up for about 5-20 minutes before it starts to decline again, at which point I have to stand up, raise the chair, and then sit back down to get it back to the top. I will be contacting the manufacturer today to see if they have any suggestions or if they can repair/replace. For now, I'm bringing my rating down to a 2. I will update when I have more information.UPDATE: Okay, so I contacted the seller through Amazon, and I got a fast response. They sent me out a new cylinder for my chair immediately and with no hassle. Disassembly was very, very difficult, but once I finally got the pieces apart, the new one went on no problem and now my problem has disappeared. I wish the round foot ring was an easy fix, but eh, what can you do. I'm bringing my rating up to a 4 for excellent, fast, and easy customer service.

This is a well built chair, was very well packaged and is very comfortable.
