good, but not up to par. It was drier than previous loaves.

What a delightful Stollen! The "bread is not too sweet and a touch of marzipan was just the crowing. Marzipan contains almonds and a lot of sugar, I was glad that it had little of this angelic tasting marzipan for the sugar reasons. Also my relatives were delighted about the Stollen fro Oebel! Only, the big Stollen turned out not to be big enough - it was so good and thus gone too soon!

I purchased several of these the previous Christmas 2016 (same brand). They were considerably larger than the one available this year. I bought it for a special treat for my husband & we very disappointed most of all because it wasvery dry & had very little marzipan in it.In fact, we never finished it. He ate one small piece & that was it. Certainly disappointing for me because I was trying to do something special for a man wholoves German treats. The Niederegger Marzipan, on the other hand, was, as usual splendid.

I'm very disappointed with this Stollen
I'm very disappointed with this Stollen. The description that it contains 14% marzipan, at least for the stollen I received, had minimal marzipan. Granted that there is variation in the batches, not every stollen is going to be perfect. But I have another concern. The description also contained a refference that the company has been making stollen for a century. While it doesn't claim that the recipe for the stollen they sell is also 100 years old, it certainly implies a traditional recipe. The ingredients did not contain any butter and listed artificial ingredients and replaced the butter with palm oil, and coconut oil.I wouldn't buy this stollen again.

Great taste
Really liked the taste, reminds me a little of Christmas back in the UK. A little dry and the packaging was very poor.

Where is the Marzipan?
I noticed that many of the Christ Stollen I bought over the years have one thing in common:You must cut deep into the sweet to find the Marzipan that was promised to be sold with it.It seems that the most expensive part of the composition is hard to find and really introduced on thin layer inside the bake good. This is the reason I will only put a 3 star rating to the seller. The Stollen is good but I think the manufacturer cut corner and cost by reducing the quantity of Marzipan available in the the sweet.I have pics to prove it as I took pics of when the Marzipan layer is visible inside the bread.

This Marzipan Stollen was wonderful
Every year I purchase Oebel Stollen as a Christmas treat, and have not been disappointed. This Marzipan Stollen was wonderful. If we want to be really decadent, rather than eating it as is, we make custard from scratch to pour over it. We also cut the stollen in portion sizes, and put in freezer for use during the year. Reading other reviews, I can see that stollen is not to everyone's taste - we did not feel that this was dry. Stollen is not a typical American store bought cake texture. More like a heavy bread, or a light fruitcake. We thought our first delivery was so good that we ordered again.
