I worried she was sick but once I switched her over she started eating like she normally would
My dog loves this food. I switched her to this after she was getting picky about her old food. I worried she was sick but once I switched her over she started eating like she normally would.

dog food
I have purchased this product monthly and now it has become unavailable and has been for quite awhile. There is no other way to get this product-very disappointing! It is too hard to switch dogs back and forth on foods. I recommend choosing a different brand.

My little one said no after the first meal
Well, I'm actually quite satisfied with the ingredients in this dog food and the bag is so solid and has a high quality velcro closure. That said, my dog, who seems to have a sensitive stomach, only ate it once. I don't believe it was the flavor that turned her off. The first time I put it down she inhaled every bit of it. I was so excited because she shuns so many foods and I badly want to find a healthy hard food she is willing to eat. However, after that, she never wanted to eat it again. She didn't eat much of anything for a couple of days and absolutely ignored it from then on. I tried to get her to eat more but she wouldn't. I gave the rest to my mom's dogs but had to put a little something else on top to entice them to it. I hate to give only 3 stars because what each dog likes seems subjective, but this is just from my personal experience. A small bag might be worth a try to see if your dog likes it first. If he does, this is a nice, large quality bag.

Chicken Meal vs Chicken
My dogs enjoy Nutrience products including this one. the bag is resealable. It opens with ease and closes securely. the kibble has no offensive odor and is a size manageable for both my German Shepherd and my Chinese Cresteds. I appreciate that the food is sourced and manufactured in the United States and Canada. It includes some good ingredients like blueberries, carrots and cranberries as well as supplements such as glucosamine chondroitin and salmon oil.My biggest reservation about this food is that chicken meal is the first ingredient. While I understand that chicken meal is considered a condensed form, containing more protein than actual chicken, I find it hard to believe that any food is superior to its raw materials. There are, to my knowledge, no meals approved for human consumption. That being said, this one is probably superior because it does identify the source, that is chicken as opposed to generic meat meal or chicken by product meal. AAFCO defines poultry meal as "the dry rendered product from a combination of clean flesh and skin with or without accompanying bone, derived from the parts of whole carcasses of poultry or a combination thereof, exclusive of feathers, heads, feet, and entrails. It shall be suitable for use in animal food. If it bears a name descriptive of its kind, it must correspond thereto" Obviously there can be chicken meals such as those made from just chicken breast that are superior to other chicken meals made perhaps of the bone and other parts. In the final analysis, this appear to be a palatable food that is sourced and manufactured in North America. The dogs enjoy it and I have observed no negative side effects. While it probably won't replace the Fromm's I normally feed my pets and I don't like it as much as other Nutrience products, it is certainly a food to consider. 3.5 stars.

A healthy and well balanced dry food from Nutrience, but a bit pricey
My dog is a 65lb English Bulldog/German Shepherd mix that repeatedly suffers from allergies, especially from food. He can also be a bit of a picky eater so finding the right mix can often be difficult. While he loves just about any treat, but I always have reservations about trying new food. Unfortunately, a large majority of popular dog foods today are filled with terrible ingredients not to mention carrying a high price tag. I'm always willing to try a new food so here are my thoughts on Nutrience Original Adult Medium Breed Dog Food, 18-Pounds, Chicken Meal with Brown Rice Recipe;Pros+ A nice healthy variety of chicken, vegetables, fruit and supplements.+ All ingredients are made in North America (U.S.A. and Canada) which gives me a bit more piece of mind than foods containing ingredients from China.+ Easy to open re-sealable bag with a Velcro strip at the top to help keep food fresh longer.+ Dog loved it and gobbled it up quickly with no fuss.+ No corn, wheat, soy, artificial colors, flavors or preservatives.+ A plethora of healthy and helpful ingredients such as Omega 3 & 6, antioxidants, vitamin C & E, glucosamine and chondroitin.+ My dog had no digestive issues after eating this.Cons- Kibble may be a bit too large for smaller or older dogs.- Velcro reseal on the bag isn't air-tight but it's obviously better than no seal at all.- Limited availability in brick and mortar stores. As far as I can tell it's sold in Canada and online only at the moment.- Expensive for an 18-pound bag. If you have larger or multiple dogs the price will get a bit hefty.- Strong smell, good for the enticing the dog but not so pleasant wherever you're storing the food.- Not Grain Free.My dog really enjoyed Nutrience Original Adult Medium Breed Dog Food, 18-Pounds, Chicken Meal with Brown Rice Recipe. He was of course extremely excited when I approached with the bag (as he is with every new food) and quickly at the half cup I mixed into his bowl. His current food is Diamond Naturals Dry Food for Adult Dogs, Large Breed 60+ Chicken Formula, 40 Pound Bag which he enjoys, but after introducing him to Nutrience he seems to prefer it over the Diamond brand. Currently I'm still mixing the two foods until both are gone at which point I'll most likely switch completely to Nutrience Grain Free Dog Food, 18-Pound, Ocean Fish . Although the price is a bit high to purchase on a regular basis, I feel the savings will outweigh the cost of unnecessary veterinary visits due to allergies and infections caused by questionable ingredients in other foods. If you're willing to pay a little extra for your dog's food in hopes of keeping them happy and healthy, then you may want to give Nutrience Original Adult Medium Breed Dog Food, 18-Pounds, Chicken Meal with Brown Rice Recipe.
