It needs a flat bottom or flat metal bottom. The only time you would use a flat metal bottom, is that if you need to heat something up quickly. In addition, it won't work with insulated cups and/or double wall mugs or glass cup. **Q: How sensitive is the gravity induction switch? I have used other heaters where the switch does not come on and does not work reliably.** A: The switch has never failed to work perfectly and reliably when I have touched it to turn the device on or off. However, I have noticed that occasionally the warmer will turn on all by itself. This doesn't bother me too much, but I'm sure it would concern most people. **Q: I went trouble turning it on?? videos and looked at manual. i dont see any reason for a delayed start yet i can't get it to turn on easily. auto shut** A: Try to put the warmer on a hard surface and keep room at the bottom because it has a pressure sensing button on the bottom. **Q: Will this work with 110 and 240 volts? can be used in europe or the middle east?** A: I doubt it.
