This is a good way to transition from swaddling.
My child sleeps much better when swaddled. I actually thought this was just a larger swaddle sack. The TrueWomb swaddle sack was amazing and I jumped to buy a bigger size regardless of color (I have a son) but realized after the fact that I had purchased the weaning, "hands are free" version.I tried it anyway because the TrueWomb swaddle worked the best for my child. This is a good way to transition from swaddling because it still gives a little bit of the "cozy" for Baby but with the peace of mind for parents. The way the leg portion is designed allows Baby to stretch but moves his or her legs back to "scrunched" for comfort. My child has startled in the piece and of course his hands jump, but the leg portion seems to help him get back to sleep better than being without some sort of swaddle. Most people are deterred by the velcro, but it hasn't been an issue for me and if it does wake my son he tends to fall back asleep once he's swaddled again. As a new mom I have gotten my best sleep when he gets his best... and that is with the TrueWomb system. I highly recommend it and it is worth trying!

The Only Weaning Swaddle That Worked!
This is the first Amazon review I've ever written. My daughter was done with being swaddled at about 3.5 months, but she also was not able to sleep well with her arms free. My husband and I were in a huge quandary. She hated being swaddled, but she didn't know how to sleep unswaddled. We tried everything - one arm out, the peke moe, swaddle sacks, other velcro products, literally nothing worked. Then we tried this. This saved us. It allowed her to feel somewhat snug and encourage her to sleep with her arms down and close to her sides so she was less inclined to wave her arms around like crazy, but it still allowed her free range of movement to stretch and learn to soothe herself by sucking on her fingers when she needed to. The one time this was in the wash, her sleep time declined by half, so I know this works. I highly, highly recommend it!
