Very pleased with this knife
Very pleased with this knife; I also have the ESSE 4 and I have to say I like this one better... I bought a marron micarta to make a home-made handle and with the leather sheath it comes with it turned GREAT!!!

Lies
The most important thing to note is that, despite the description, THIS IS NOT A CARBON STEEL KNIFE OF ANY SORT. Not D2 like it previously said (going by the reviews), nor any other kind like 1095 or anything else. As I write this, the current BS ad copy states,"Needs maintenance to prevent rust/blemish due high carbon contentRock solid edge retention due to high carbon"They are clearly presenting this as carbon steel with the fake rust warning, and also claiming it is especially good stuff. I am returning it, so I am not going to do an edge retention test. But I can say without a doubt it is not carbon steel because some good old Birchwood Casey bluing fluid has absolutely zero effect on it. Ironically, despite the blade being stainless, the rivet holding the sheath together is corroded. The picture appears to have a micarta handle with some degree of texture exposed, which is what I would want in this sort of knife so it has some grip. What I got is a slippery polished [micarta] handle, which looks nice but isn't a good idea for a working knife. Regardless, the point is they are not shipping the same knife as is in the picture. Similar, but not it.There is no lanyard as pictured. That's not a disaster for me because I rarely use them and have plenty of paracord strewn about. But it does seem crummy to show a knife with it and ship a knife without it.The sheath, not shown, is the sort with no retaining tendency in the part which holds the blade (only the blade goes in, no part of the handle presses in to hold it in place). The only retention method is a strap with a snap at the end to wrap over the handle. This is a matter of preference and similar to many other knives, but the snap on this one just barely holds on, and is easily bumped apart.

Great buy
Good all around knife. Have cut thru wood, mudflaps, chords, and more. Can still shave with it!!! Sheath is a waste of time. Otherwise I'd highly recommend it.

This Is Not a 1095 "High Carbon Steel", it's a Stainless Steel
The product description mentions the following: "High Carbon Steel, Razor Sharp, Needs maintenance to prevent rust/blemish due high carbon content, Rock solid edge retention due to high carbon"... Which makes you think it's a 1095 or D2 steel. It is most definitely NOT a 1095 high carbon steel. I took the scales off to force patina the blade and I didn't find any stamped engraving of the type of steel used, nothing. The steel is definitely some sort of a stainless steel and seems to be a pretty decent one too since I was unable to stain it at all using hot vinegar. It was submerged for over 12 hours.. I force patina all my high carbon knives. Ka-Bar and Morakniv are both known to use 1095 high carbon steel.Attached are photos of my high carbon Ka-Bar knives next to the Knife King Abolito. Noticed the forced patina didn't work on the Abolito which indicates it is not high carbon steel as advertised. They should update their listing to the exact steel used.Anyway, overall I like the knife - good weight, gimping, nice scales, decent sheath. I got it on Amazon for $29.99 and for the price it's worth it. It came very sharp and well packaged. If I had paid the original $99.99, I would have been shipping it back by now. I was expecting a 1095 steel since the "Needs maintenance to prevent rust/blemish" is usually an indication of a 1095 or D2 steel.

[Knife King "Abolito" Handmade Bushcraft D2 Steel hunting knife Micarta ...
[Knife King "Abolito" Handmade Bushcraft D2 Steel hunting knife Micarta handle.Razor sharp Solid quality hunter] This what they advertised when I purchased this knife in April. Now I find out that it is not D2 Steel. Knife King now removed D2 Steel in their description replaced with [High Carbon Steel]. Knife King is misleading and cheating customers, what the hell! I will not ever buy from them again!

Well made knife with D 2(?) steel.
Well made knife, but there are no markings showing that it is "D 2" steel or where it was made. The sheath is of excellent quality.
